The 66th annual Pebble Beach Concours d\u2019Elegance is the main event of the famed\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.supercars.net\/blog\/montereycarweek\/\">Monterey Classic Car Week<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Originally a small social event paired with a road race through the pine and cypress forests of Pebble Beach, the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.supercars.net\/blog\/pebble-beach-concours\/\">Pebble Beach Concours d&#8217;Elegance<\/a> has grown into the top-ranking collector car competition in the world.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.supercars.net\/blog\/pebble-beach-concours\/\">The Concours<\/a> is not a contest of speed, but of elegance. Automobiles and motorcycles are judged for their historical accuracy, their technical merit and their style\u2014and the best garner reward and recognition.<\/p>\n<p>The 2016\u00a0Pebble Beach Concours d&#8217;Elegance featured\u00a0the following marques:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.supercars.net\/blog\/tag\/Delahaye\">Delahaye<\/a><\/li>\n<li>Chapron Coachwork<\/li>\n<li>BMW Centennial<\/li>\n<li>50th Anniversary of <a href=\"http:\/\/www.supercars.net\/blog\/1965-ford-gt40-x1\/\">Ford GT40<\/a> Victory at Le Mans<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.supercars.net\/blog\/tag\/Bizzarrini\">Bizzarrini<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.supercars.net\/blog\/1968-lamborghini-miura-p400-3\/\">Lamborghini Miura<\/a><\/li>\n<li>Two-Man Indianapolis Race Cars 1930\u20131937<\/li>\n<li>BMW Motorcycles<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>In tandem with the competition between these extraordinary historic automobiles, the Concours is also host to some of the world&#8217;s most anticipated concept cars and new car debuts.<\/p>\n<p>This year there were 228 cars from across the globe. As always the\u00a0judging process\u00a0at Pebble Beach is detailed and thorough.\u00a0The first part is based on\u00a0originality and authenticity, while Honorary Judges direct their attention to design, styling and elegance. To be eligible to win Best of Show \u2014 the event\u2019s top award \u2014 a car must first win its class.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.supercars.net\/blog\/pebble-beach-concours-best-show-1936-lancia-astura-pinin-farina-cabriolet\/\">Best of Show\u00a0went to\u00a01936 Lancia Asturia Pinin Farina Cabriolet<\/a>.\u00a0Nearly sent to the salvage yard as a 26-year old car, this\u00a01936 Lancia Astura Pinin Farina Cabriolet has had one exciting history, topped off of course with winning the top honors at the\u00a02016 Pebble Beach Concours d\u2019Elegance.\u00a0This particular vehicle, which once belonged to guitarist Eric Clapton.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cThe Pebble Beach Concours d\u2019Elegance is the grand finale of Pebble Beach Automotive Week.
