This included the interested dual-stage induction which included both a supercharger and turbocharger. Although detuned for the sanity, this system catapulted the Group B version to 600 bhp and zero to sixty in less than two seconds.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Two hundred S4 Stradales were required and built for homologation, and no doubt many were taken from the road right back onto into motor sports. Very few cars remain unaltered; especially considering a removing the air restrictors and a changing a few adjustments doubled the available power.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s a car enthusiast\u2019s collection, right,\u201d says John Campion. \u201cI don\u2019t have cars because I want to impress anybody. If you don\u2019t know what a rally car is, you\u2019re kinda like, \u2018That\u2019s a dirty car, there are cracks on it\u2019\u2026 But I find the passion I have for these cars goes back to the individuals who drove them.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Beginning as a \u201clucky\u201d immigrant to the U.S. in 1984 with $26 in his pocket, John Campion worked hard for the last few decades and is indulges in the vehicles most meaningful to him. From a Lotus Cortina, similar to the Ford Cortina his father bought new in the period, to World Rally Championship rally-winning group B cars, his collection is definitely filled with fog lights and Martini stickers.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI grew up in Ireland in the late-\u201960s and early \u201970s, and had a fascination with all things mechanical,\u201d he says. \u201cMy father was a mechanical kind of guy, and we grew up restoring old tractors and steam engines\u2014so once I started making a few dollars, I started purchasing cars, and went through the whole myriad of cars and ended up where we are today, which is predominantly cars from my youth\u2014rally cars.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He makes no mistakes in recognizing his limitations as a driver because piloting some of the fastest all-road vehicles ever conceived takes a steel will and full committment\u2014 \u201cI drive the car for 15 minutes, and I\u2019m exhausted\u2026\u201d he says to convey how amazing Group B pilots were in period.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cGroup B drivers were the best of the best of the best\u2026\u201d he says. \u201cBut it\u2019s still humbling to drive the same car as these rally legends; to be able to show the cars, drive the cars, and get a wider audience for these cars.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIf you own them and don\u2019t show them, and you own them and don\u2019t drive them, and own them but don\u2019t share them\u2026it\u2019s a rich man\u2019s folly.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Built as a road going version of Lancia\u2019s Group B contender, the Delta S4 possessed all the radical traits of the race car it was made from.
