The Italian car manufacturer<\/a> has done it again and this time, with the introduction of the new Ferrari 812 Superfast which was officially unveiled here at the 2017 Geneva Motor Show. The Ferrari 812 Superfast is the successor to the Ferrari F12 and is now the company\u2019s fastest front-engined, V12 powered GT Car.<\/p>\n

The Superfast carries a new 6.5-litre V12 engine that delivers an astounding 789 hp at 8,500 rpm and a maximum torque of 718 Nm at 7,000 rpm. The V12 engine is still located at the mid-front making the car even more unique in the already crowded market and sets it apart from other luxury GT cars. The car can reach speeds of 340 km\/h and can go 0-100 km\/h in just 2.9 seconds.<\/p>\n

The improvements to the power were achieved through a 350 bar direct injection system and a variable geometry intake tract. Both of which are developed from the naturally-aspirated F1 engine technology. The Ferrari 812 Superfast gets a dual-clutch transmission with new gear ratios, reduced shift times and a sharper throttle response. Dry weight with lightweight optional extras is 1,525 kg with a weight distribution of 47-53% front\/rear.<\/p>\n

The 812 Superfast is also equipped with Virtual Short Wheelbase 2.0 System, the company\u2019s very own four-wheel steering system. This is the improved form of the one F12tdf<\/a> unit and is claimed to be much better in handling and responsiveness. Lastly, the Superfast is the first Ferrari to feature EPS (Electric Power Steering) which combines with the latest 5.0 version of Ferrari\u2019s patented Side Slip Control (SSC).<\/p>\n

Driving Impressions<\/h2>\n

You will never forget the first time you open the throttle in an 812 Superfast. For me it was at a traffic light near my home and boy did it scare the sh*t out of me. It stops your breath as you rip through 1st, 2nd and 3rd gear. You can’t speak. In fact you can barely think. You short-shift up to 5th and ease off the power. The 812 Superfast and its epic 6.5-litre V12 are absolutely shocking in every way – the sound, the speed, the sheer violence of it all. I love it.<\/p>\n

And the crazy thing is that even after repeated exposure to the 812 Superfast, it can still befuddle and amaze. It’s so fast, so savage, so instantly responsive that it feels illicit. Can this really be legal? Well, thank the lord that – for now at least – it is.<\/p>\n

The spec sheet suggests that the Ferrari 812 Superfast is’ less concerned with honouring tradition. It might be a front-engined V12 in the mould of a Daytona but its format doesn\u2019t dictate its character. Instead Ferrari has imposed its new identity on the revered layout. That means a seven-speed dual-clutch gearbox, running in conjunction with an e-diff, Virtual Short Wheelbase 2.0 (Ferrari terminology for rear-wheel steering), Side Slip Control 5.0, magnetorheological dampers, five driving settings and much more tech. I won\u2019t bore you with the rest because frankly it is all too confusing. What I can tell you is that the 812 Superfast is an absolutely engaging, soul satisfying experience every single time you get into it. Just perfect.<\/p>\n
