{"id":299450,"date":"2020-11-25T14:34:54","date_gmt":"2020-11-25T19:34:54","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/sportscardigest.com\/?p=299450"},"modified":"2024-12-06T03:56:23","modified_gmt":"2024-12-06T03:56:23","slug":"2020-silverstone-auctions-nec-classic-live-online-auction-results","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.supercars.net\/blog\/2020-silverstone-auctions-nec-classic-live-online-auction-results\/","title":{"rendered":"2020 Silverstone Auctions  NEC Classic Live Online Auction Results"},"content":{"rendered":"\r\n<p>The 2020 NEC Classic Live Online Auction (November 13 -14), being <a href=\"https:\/\/www.silverstoneauctions.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Silverstone Auctions<\/a>\u2019 last sale for 2020, was another stunning success with a sales rate of 78% and clearing \u00a38 million in sales.\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>On the first day of the sale, they opened with an automobilia auction of which included the auction of the private registration number &#8216;O 10&#8217;. The registration has been held since 1902 with this being the first time it has been offered for sale, and unsurprisingly, it sold for an incredible \u00a3128,800.<\/p>\r\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.supercars.net\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/11\/100_1328-1.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-830855\" src=\"https:\/\/www.supercars.net\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/11\/100_1328-1.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1200\" height=\"969\" Tomaso\u00a0Pantera\u00a0(Pre-L) which was sold for \u00a367,500, and a bidding battle ensued for the 2008 Damon Astoria Pacific Edition 3772 Motorhome which eventually sold for It was an exceptional and\u00a0one-of-a-kind\u00a0collection of personal items that were formerly owned by the British racing icon, as well\u00a0as a few\u00a0limited-edition\u00a0collectibles. The most notable lots were the solid gold twin bar watch band which <a href=\"https:\/\/sportscardigest.com\/remembering-stirling-moss-1929-2020\/\">Stirling<\/a> wore for 38 years, selling for \u00a367,850; and with a winning bid of \u00a337,950, the period\u00a0Patey\u00a0race helmet was sold.\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator\" \/>\r\n\r\n\r\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" style=\"text-align: center;\">Spotlight on the 1982 Renault 5 Turbo Group 4 and Alfa Romeo 1900 Speciale<\/h2>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>Two highlights on the second day of the 2020 Silverstone Auctions NEC Classic Live Online Auctions were Lot 434, a 1982 Renault 5 Turbo Group 4 which sold for \u00a3337,500 and selling for double its pre-sale estimate was a 1953 Alfa Romeo 1900\u00a0Speciale\u00a0(sixties recreation), which sold for \u00a3166,500.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<div class=\"wp-block-spacer\" style=\"height: 20px;\" aria-hidden=\"true\">\u00a0<\/div>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" style=\"text-align: center;\">1982 Renault 5 Turbo Group 4\u00a0<\/h2>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p><strong>Sold for \u00a3337,500<\/strong><\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>Renault introduced the\u00a0Renault Turbo 5 <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Group_4_(racing)\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Group 4 Rally car<\/a> in 1982. Other features included Bosch K-Jetronic fuel injection, rear-wheel drive, five-speed manual transmission, four-wheel disc brakes, and independent front and rear suspension with anti-roll bars.\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n<p><iframe class=\"zeen-lazy-load-base zeen-lazy-load\" title=\"1982 Renault 5 Turbo Group 4\" src=\"about:blank\" data-lazy-src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/bosYNvQR8oQ\" width=\"853\" height=\"480\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><noscript><iframe title=\"1982 Renault 5 Turbo Group 4\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/bosYNvQR8oQ\" width=\"853\" height=\"480\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/noscript><\/p>\r\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\r\n\r\n<p>This example, Chassis B0000454, was delivered new to Renault\u2019s dealership in Chartres in 1982, and they\u00a0were\u00a0eager to enter the car immediately into events.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>At the time, Renault was focusing solely on their efforts to win the Formula 1 World Championship\u00a0and had no capacity for anything else, but they did offer design, technical, and parts support to Renault Chartres. In April, they took overall victory at the\u00a0Crit\u00e9rium\u00a0Alpin\u00a0de Grasse, and they also competed at the Tour de Corse in May. The\u00a0race was more than 3,140 kilometers long and 540 of them were competitive stages. 84 crews started in the race, and it was so grueling that only 38 finished.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>Despite the task that lay in front of them, the all-French team was undaunted.
