It was the perfect combination of\u00a0having a superb performance of a sports car with its 200bhp engine that was matched with the comfort of a luxury saloon.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>The first victory for the Audi Quattro came during the 1981 San Remo Rally with Mich\u00e8le Mouton behind the wheel. By the 1982 season, they completely dominated, winning the world title.\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large is-style-default\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.supercars.net\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/01\/group-b-audi-side-1-1.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-605800\" src=\"https:\/\/www.supercars.net\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/01\/group-b-audi-side-1-1.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"750\" height=\"416\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.supercars.net\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/01\/group-b-audi-side-1-1.jpg 750w, https:\/\/www.supercars.net\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/01\/group-b-audi-side-1-1-300x166.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.supercars.net\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/01\/group-b-audi-side-1-1-100x55.jpg 100w, https:\/\/www.supercars.net\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/01\/group-b-audi-side-1-1-293x163.jpg 293w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 750px) 100vw, 750px\" \/><\/a><\/figure>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>When Group B was introduced Audi responded by modifying the Group 4 version by extending its homologation and entering the car in Group B as the Quattro A2. They also created a true Group B car &#8211; the Quattro Sport and manufactured 200 homologation versions of it.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>By 1985, just as the Quattro Sport was starting to gain ground, it went up against the 205 Turbo 16, and the latter was able to grab the championship with Timo Salonen driving.\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>To maintain its competitiveness, Audi had to further develop the model and it is what they did with the Quattro Sport S1. In 1985 and 1986, Mouton and Bobby Unser won the event, and in 1987, Audi had the Quattro Sport driven by\u00a0R\u00f6hrl.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>At \u201cThe Race to the Clouds\u201d a\u00a012.4-mile\u00a0hill climb starting at an altitude of 9,400ft and finishing at\u00a014,124ft,\u00a0R\u00f6hrl\u2019s\u00a0Audi was undeniably the most extreme Quattro Sport created. It had 600bhp and weighed 2,200lbs.
