Photo by Geoff\u00a0Ridder<\/figcaption>\r\n<\/figure>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<div class=\"wp-block-spacer\" style=\"height: 6px;\" aria-hidden=\"true\">\u00a0<\/div>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>Codie Banks in his <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Lola_T332\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Lola T332<\/a>, after an outstanding performance in the category qualifying session earlier in the day, did try to give him a run for his money, going head-to-head against Collins for the first four laps of the\u00a0eight-lap\u00a0race.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>Collins himself admitted to the challenge he faced:\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-style-large is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\r\n<p>\u201cThere was definitely no cutting out a couple of hot laps then going into cruise mode. I had my ears pinned back from the first lap until the last.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\r\n<\/blockquote>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>David Banks, Codie Banks\u2019 father,\u00a0had his Talon MR1\/A\u00a0side-lined by a broken half shaft on Friday. Photo by Geoff\u00a0Ridder<\/figcaption>\r\n<\/figure>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<div class=\"wp-block-spacer\" style=\"height: 9px;\" aria-hidden=\"true\">\u00a0<\/div>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>Unfortunately, Codie ran into gear selection issues on the fourth lap and he ended in the pits on the fifth lap.\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-style-large is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\r\n<p>\u201cFirst I couldn\u2019t find a gear to change down into then it took me half the length of the start\/finish straight to get it started again\u2026 but when I\u00a0did,\u00a0I couldn\u2019t find any gears, so figured it was time to stop.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\r\n<cite>Codie Banks<\/cite><\/blockquote>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>Trailing Collins and Codie was\u00a0former New Zealand Formula Ford champion Kevin Ingram in his Lola T332. He came third in qualifying and when Codie retired, he took second while Brett Willis in his new Lola T332, taking third place after he worked his way up from the 6th position.\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>In the Lola T400, Glenn Richards, who was fourth quickest during qualifying and was part of the top six slid down the roster after a half-spin.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>4th and 5th places went to Shayne\u00a0Windelburn\u00a0in the Lola T400 and Anna Collins in the Leda LT27, respectively. Russel Greer in the Lola T332\u00a0came in 6th while\u00a0Glen Richards\u00a0came in 7th. Rony Galbraith in the Lola T332 was 9th in the qualifying but he also found himself in the pitstop after a fuel starvation issue.\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>Tim Rush in the McLaren M22 finished 8th and came out victorious in the Class A standings from other <a href=\"https:\/\/sportscardigest.com\/mclaren-p1\/\">McLaren<\/a> drivers being Frank Karl in the M10B, Tony Roberts in the high-wing McLaren M10A along with a newcomer in the category, Toby\u00a0Annabell\u00a0in the McLaren M10B.\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large is-style-default\"><a first corner excitement.
