There was\u00a0no motivation in keeping them in working order.<\/p>\n<p>The fate of these old race cars changed in August 1974 when <a href=\"https:\/\/sportscardigest.com\/steve-earle-receives-bob-akin-rrdc-award\/\">Steven Earle<\/a> encouraged his friends to \u201crace\u201d their cars.
