{"id":337699,"date":"2018-05-01T12:10:09","date_gmt":"2018-05-01T12:10:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.supercars.net\/blog\/?p=337699"},"modified":"2024-12-27T12:59:07","modified_gmt":"2024-12-27T12:59:07","slug":"porsche-919-hybrid-evo","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.supercars.net\/blog\/porsche-919-hybrid-evo\/","title":{"rendered":"2018 Porsche 919 Hybrid Evo"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>On April 9, 2018, <a href=\"https:\/\/newsroom.porsche.com\/en\/motorsports\/919-hybrid-evo-spa-francorchamps-track-record-drive-neel-jani-15184.html\">Porsche announced1<\/a> that its Le Mans-winning LMP1 car set a new lap record of 1:41.770 at the legendary Spa Francorchamps race track in Belgium, with Swiss racing driver Neel Jani behind the wheel.<\/p>\n<p>The previous record belonged to Lewis Hamilton\u2019s Mercedes-AMG F1 car, which achieved pole position in the 2017 Belgian Grand Prix with a time that is 0.783 seconds slower than the Porsche.<\/p>\n<p>With the car retiring after the 2017 LMP WEC season, the Porsche team decided to throw it a truly memorable send-off. Freed from any restrictions brought upon by strict regulations in the class it competed in, Porsche threw out the rulebook and established a new benchmark.<\/p>\n<p>Amongst the notable parting gifts was a significant horsepower bump, increasing the turbo V4 to 720 horsepower from 500 horsepower. Additionally, the electric motor received a 10% boost, now generating 440 horsepower.
