Standard Honda vs. Modified Nissan<\/h2>\n

At a certain point, we guess we could see getting a little bored with the regular Nissan GT-R<\/a>. That’s when you’d go wild and do all sorts of modifications and create something like the Litchfield GT-R. The car offers 631 hp and 600 lb-ft of torque. It can do a 0-60 mph sprint in just 2.9 seconds.<\/strong> That means it’s a very fast machine, indeed.<\/p>\n

What’s also fast? The Acura NSX<\/a>. It comes with 573 hp and 476 lb-ft of torque<\/strong> and can make the 0-60 mph run in just 3.3 seconds<\/strong> it also weighs just a little less than the GT-R. It’s fast, but is it fast enough?<\/p>\n

Top Gear<\/a> decided to put the Acura NSX up against the Litchfield GT-R to see how the two would compare on a quarter-mile dragstrip. On paper, the Litchfield GT-R seems to have the advantage,<\/strong> but Honda’s NSX always seems to be able to surprise us. To be honest, upon first watch of this video we were rooting for it to win.<\/p>\n

Rory Reid asks the all-important question. Is it better to buy a supercar and leave it alone, or buy a high-end sports car and make some modifications? It seems, based on the results at the dragstrip the latter might be the way to go. However, if you take these cars off the drag strip and put them on a true racing circuit, we’d be willing to wager there’s a different outcome.<\/strong> However, that’s a test for another day.
