A Bold Claim<\/h2>\n

The Porsche Taycan<\/a> is an important car for the company. It has to be truly good for the company to compete as it would like to in the market. If the CEO’s claims are true and the power and range ratings are accurate, we can see no reason why the car wouldn’t be a hit.<\/strong> The CEO Oliver Blume recently told the German publication Handelsblatt<\/a> that the car drives similarly to the Porsche 911. <\/p>\n

According to the translation of the interview as Carscoops<\/a> has it, he talked a lot about the low center of gravity in the Taycan and how this impacts the drive of the Taycan. Here are his full remarks: <\/p>\n

When we set up a new Porsche, we always set the standard for ourselves: the Taycan has to drive like the 911. I was recently on our racetrack in Italy. And I\u2019m still excited. We have the advantage in electric mobility that we have a lower center of gravity with the battery than the 911.<\/strong><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

While a low center of gravity is indeed important, we’re still a little hesitant to suggest that it’s as good as the 911. However, we haven’t driven one and to say the CEO of Porsche isn’t accurate here would be silly. Honestly, we hope the Taycan is as good as Blume says.<\/strong> It could do wonders for the future of electrification. <\/p>\n

The top-of-the-line Porsche Taycan should produce 592 hp and hit 0 to 62 mph in just 3.5 seconds. Porsche also claims it will have a range of about 310 miles. That will put all other electric car makers on notice, especially Tesla. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
