The car&#8217;s time was an unofficial time, but it&#8217;s clear that the car is capable of it. <strong>Shortly after this, Elon Musk said that the upcoming Tesla Roadster would beat the production car record.<\/strong> That record is currently held by the Lamborghini Aventador SVJ, according to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.carscoops.com\/2019\/09\/musk-confident-new-tesla-roadster-will-set-production-car-record-at-the-ring\/\">Carscoops<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The Tesla chief executive didn&#8217;t come out and say this outright, but he instead tweeted a response to a person who asked if the new Roadster would beat the time set by the Lamborghini. <strong>Musk said simply, &#8220;Absolutely.&#8221;<\/strong><\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">Absolutely<\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Elon Musk (@elonmusk) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/elonmusk\/status\/1173993720296787969?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">September 17, 2019<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><script async=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The roadster was unveiled two years ago as a prototype. The production version of the car is yet to be out. The powertrain for that car will be made of three motors and a 200 kWh battery pack. <strong>The car is supposed to be able to do a 0-60 mph run in just 1.9 seconds and hit 100 mph in just 4.2 seconds. <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>With performance numbers like that, we could see the car set a new record. At the very least, the car will be an extremely fast one around the Green Hell.
