A Truly Quick and Luxurious Bavarian Grand Touring Machine<\/h2>\n

The first of the BMW M8<\/a> Competition reviews are rolling in and the verdict is clear. The BMW M8 Competition is a seriously impressive sports coupe. The car features a high-revving 4.4-liter twin-turbo V8 that makes 617 hp and 553 lb-ft of torque.<\/strong> The engine’s power is handled by an eight-speed automatic transmission. That transmission filters power as appropriate to all four wheels, though there is a rear-bias to the system, as there should be in any true performance car. <\/p>\n

The 0-62 mph time is a quick 3.2 seconds for the coupe and 3.3 seconds for the convertible.<\/strong> Top speed is limited to 155 mph. If you choose to geet the M Driver Package, the top speed surges to an impressive 189 mph.<\/strong> The chassis of the car is a special tune, which means the M8 Competition will handle differently than other M cars from BMW. <\/p>\n

What People are Saying<\/h3>\n

Overall, the car is a force to be reckoned with, and the folks who got to review it have plenty of good things to say. But they’re not without gripes. The M8’s weight was something discussed by many folks who got behind the wheel.<\/strong> Let’s take a look at some of the highlights from recent reviews below: <\/p>\n

“On track the M8 behaves much as you\u2019d expect of a car that\u2019s both highly developed and powerful, but also 1960kg at the kerb \u2013 fast, precise and well balanced, but not as agile as something perhaps a touch lighter.”<\/em> – Anthony Ingram of EVO<\/a><\/p>\n

“For a car that tips the scales at 1885kg, there are few if any rivals in the segment that could get around a circuit like Algarve with such ferocity yet with such predictability and sure-footed confidence.” –<\/em> Anthony Crawford of CarAdvice<\/a><\/p>\n

“Yes, the car still feels all of two tonnes when you really start to hustle it into bends and quick direction changes, but you\u2019ve got to be forcing it into such a scenario. I suspect 98%, if not more, of owners will never venture onto a track with their M8, but it\u2019s spectacular to know how capable the car can be.”<\/em> – Zaid Hamid of GT Spirit<\/a><\/p>\n

So, while the M8 Competition is a bit of a porker, it’s one that can hardly be matched by the competition out there. This is one special BMW. <\/p>\n
