An Open-Top Dream Come True<\/h2>\n

We had received information that McLaren had a new Speedster in the works<\/a>, but now the company has officially revealed the model. It is the Elva<\/a>.<\/strong> It will join the P1, Senna, and Speedtail in the automaker’s Ultimate Series. The model is a completely roofless Speedster. It’s a familiar vehicle, but it’s also wildly unique. <\/strong><\/p>\n

The Elva features a bespoke body<\/strong> that pulls from the McLaren current aesthetic but still manages to be very unique. McLaren also created an air deflection system called Active Air Management System<\/strong> that keeps the cabin calm at speed. The system works to deflect air up and over the cockpit. The system also diverts air to the front-mounted radiators. <\/p>\n

The car features McLaren’s hydraulically cross-linked damper system and electro-hydraulic steering system. The car is a road-going machine, so it’ll be a little softer than the company’s other rides.  The car gets 390mm carbon-ceramic brakes with aluminum calipers with titanium pistons.<\/strong> The car also gets a 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8.<\/strong> It’s the same as is in the Senna. The engine in this car makes M and 590 lb-ft of torque.<\/strong> Power goes to the rear wheels through a seven-speed DCT. The Elva can do a 0-62 mph time in under three seconds and will hit 124 mph in just 6.7 seconds. <\/strong><\/p>\n

The car can be fitted with a small windscreen if the customer wants it, and there are tons of customization opportunities both for the handsome exterior and the elegant and luxurious interior, which features a driver-focused cabin with an upright touchscreen display and a digital gauge cluster. <\/p>\n

McLaren will build 399 of the cars. The starting price for them is \u00a31,425,000 (about $1,830,355).<\/strong> Note that is just the starting price. We would expect few buyers to take a car in basic spec. The car will take on other speedsters like the Porsche 911 Speedster<\/a> and the Ferrari Monza SP1 and SP2<\/a>.<\/p>\n
