According to a report by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.reuters.com\/article\/us-ferrari-electric-car-ceo\/ferrari-ceo-does-not-expect-fully-electric-model-until-after-2025-idUSKBN1YG150\">Reuters<\/a>, the first fully electric Ferrari won&#8217;t come before 2025. <strong>The publication discussed the possibility of an electric supercar with Louis Camilleri, Ferrari CEO, and he said that the technology just isn&#8217;t there yet.&nbsp;<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe battery technology is not where it should be yet,\u201d&nbsp;Camilleri said.&nbsp;\u201cThere are still significant issues in terms of autonomy, in terms of speed of recharging. So eventually we will come out with one. But it\u2019s post-2025. Not in the short term.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He went on to tell Reuters that the company thought about a fully electric grand touring machine but instead turned to hybrid technology. That path will continue for now. <strong>If <a href=\"https:\/\/www.supercars.net\/blog\/category\/brand\/ferrari\/\">Ferrari<\/a> continues to see success with hybrids, 60 percent of all Ferrari&#8217;s sold could have a hybrid powertrain by 2022. <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Ferrari isn&#8217;t the only company that has seen success in making hybrid supercars. McLaren and now <a href=\"https:\/\/www.supercars.net\/blog\/the-lamborghini-sian-is-the-companys-first-hybrid-and-most-powerful-car-ever\/\">even Lamborghini<\/a> are drinking the hybrid supercar cool-aid. It will be interesting to see if companies like Lotus, which are <a href=\"https:\/\/www.supercars.net\/blog\/the-lotus-evija-a-2000hp-ev-that-starts-at-2-1-million\/\">more focused on fully electric powertrain technology<\/a> will pass the others by.
