The Art of Front-Wheel Drive Gets Even Better<\/h2>\n

The Civic Type R<\/a> is one of those cars that many people love dearly and others don’t like much at all. I drove a Civic Type R when it first came out<\/a>. It was at an event, and I found it to be a wonderful front-wheel-drive sports car. The vehicle was quick and precise, and I liked the exhaust note. Now Honda has some updates to the car and will bring them to the U.S. market later this year. <\/strong><\/p>\n

The new car was presented at the 2020 Tokyo Auto Salon<\/a>. The updates to the car should help with some of the overheating complaints that were out there. The car will get a larger grille and improved engine cooling.<\/strong> The Type R will also get a Boost Blue exterior color that’s exclusive to the specific model. <\/p>\n

Inside the car, Alcantara will be on the steering wheel and a new gear knob with a shorter throw is installed. In an unfortunate turn, Honda chose to pipe in fake engine noise. In a positive turn of events, Honda chose to add Honda Sensing suite of safety and driver assistance features. <\/strong><\/p>\n

Additional updates include a modified front suspension that includes new dampers. All of this should make the car run smoother and steer with improved feel. The 2.0-liter turbo four-cylinder engine does not change.<\/strong> It still puts out 306 hp and 295 lb-ft. A manual transmission and limited-slip differential are standard on the Type R. <\/p>\n

The price of this new car will sit at $36,300. The car will be on sale before winter ends. <\/p>\n
