{"id":358072,"date":"2020-02-20T16:59:33","date_gmt":"2020-02-20T16:59:33","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.supercars.net\/blog\/?p=358072"},"modified":"2024-12-01T22:32:04","modified_gmt":"2024-12-01T22:32:04","slug":"ferrari-f40-fire-in-monaco","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.supercars.net\/blog\/ferrari-f40-fire-in-monaco\/","title":{"rendered":"VIDEO: Ferrari F40 Fire In Monaco [VIDEO]"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>As posted on <a href=\"https:\/\/www.roadandtrack.com\/car-culture\/classic-cars\/a30982089\/ferrari-f40-fire-burns-monaco\/\">Road &amp; Track<\/a>, this week a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.supercars.net\/blog\/the-ferrari-f40\/\">Ferrari F40<\/a> burned beyond rescue in Monaco.<\/p>\n<p><iframe class=\"zeen-lazy-load-base zeen-lazy-load\" title=\"Ferrari F40 on fire, burns in Monte Carlo\" width=\"1200\" height=\"900\" src=\"about:blank\" data-lazy-src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/UEd2h3Vhf5g?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><noscript><iframe title=\"Ferrari F40 on fire, burns in Monte Carlo\" width=\"1200\" height=\"900\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/UEd2h3Vhf5g?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/noscript><\/p>\n<p>From all reports regarding the fire, the car had been parked after a fairly regular drive through the principality, when something in the engine went &#8220;pop&#8221; and the car was instantly in flames.<\/p>\n<p>This is the third F40 in the past 4 years to suddenly combust, with the other two being a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.roadandtrack.com\/car-culture\/news\/a30916\/newly-restored-ferrari-f40-burns-to-the-ground\/\">newly rebuilt engine catching fire in 2016<\/a>, and a well maintained one <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ivg.it\/2017\/04\/sfilata-ferrari-nellentroterra-albenga-prende-fuoco-f40-completamente-distrutta\/\">catching fire during an Italian Ferrari meetup and cruise<\/a> (Italian language link).<\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s a sad day in the world of supercars when a classic like the F40 goes up in flames, and because of the unique construction, namely the carbon fiber body, floorpan, and dash built around a lightweight tubular steel frame, it is incredibly difficult or otherwise impossible to rebuild one after a fire.<\/p>\n<p>Instagram user jmex_98 was close by after the fire was put out, showing the devastation that occurred to the F40.
