The name comes from the combination of two Swedish words, notably ge, or “to give,” and mera, “more.” The name thus literally means “to give more” to the Koenigsegg customer. More space, more luggage room, more experiences with more friends. The car outputs a combined total of 1.27 MW of power, or 1,700 HP, and 2,581 lbs-ft of torque.

This is achieved with a combination of an extremely powerful, 2.0 liter twin turbo camless freevalve inline three engine, nicknamed the Tiny Friendly Giant, that produces 600 HP all on its own that powers the front axle, combined with three electric motors.

Two electric motors are placed at each rear wheel, with one motor being attached to the crankshaft of the engine to boost power to the front axle. All three motors have a combined output of 1,100 HP.

The Gemera is also carbon neutral with certain fuels, something that was important to Christian Von Koenigsegg. If used with methanol or ethanol, the car is arguably cleaner than a pure EV. With E85, it is as close to carbon neutral to make no difference. It can also use regular 91 or higher octane pump gas if no other fuel is available.

The car can also run completely silent, without the use of the inline three, up to 340 KPH (211 MPH). The 800 Volt battery has a rough range of 50 KM (31 miles). However, if the battery runs low or you mash the accelerator to the floor, the Tiny Friendly Giant wakes up and gives a riotous roar to make things more exciting. To handle the insane torque and power of the car, the Gemera has active torque vectoring and four wheel steering.

And in case you were worried that the Gemera, due to the length of the cabin, might have normal doors, fear not. It has the bespoke Koenigsegg Automated Twisted Synchrohelix Actuation Doors, or KATSAD. And that full length cabin can comfortably hold four adults with ample headroom and legroom.

This is because, as with many of their previous cars, Koenigsegg has made a carbon monocoque that redefines torsional rigidity and outright strength. And as a last little touch of luxury, there are four cup holders. And the cup holders are heated and cooled.

There will be a limited run of 300 cars only.

UPDATE 3/9/2020:

Koenigsegg has confirmed over the past weekend that orders can start to be taken with Expressions Of Interest, and that the base price is $1.7 million US.

Pictures
