Over the weekend, he compiled and released recordings he had made in his backyard at Monza of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.supercars.net\/blog\/2016-ferrari-488-gte\/\">Ferrari 488 GTE (2016 model)<\/a> and 488 GTE EVO (2018+ model).<\/p>\n<p><iframe class=\"zeen-lazy-load-base zeen-lazy-load\" title=\"Ferrari 488 GTE 2016 &amp; GTE Evo 2018 testing at Monza Circuit!\" width=\"1200\" height=\"675\" src=\"about:blank\" data-lazy-src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/E9tiluA0pMQ?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><noscript><iframe title=\"Ferrari 488 GTE 2016 &amp; GTE Evo 2018 testing at Monza Circuit!\" width=\"1200\" height=\"675\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/E9tiluA0pMQ?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/noscript><\/p>\n<p>Both models are powered by a lightweight, 4.0-liter aluminum block V8 with a pair of turbochargers strapped to it. It produces a restricted 600 BHP in Le Mans spec, although it is capable of producing upwards of 680 BHP if the regulations for the race it enters allows for it.<\/p>\n<p>If those specs sound familiar, it&#8217;s because the engine is a reworked racing variant of the one that was installed in the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.supercars.net\/blog\/2015-ferrari-488-gtb\/\">Ferrari 488 GTB<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>It also features a hydraulic single-clutch sequential transmission, developed in house at Ferrari. It is capable of shifting, albeit quite violently, in under 50 milliseconds, and combined with the racing ECU, will auto-blip the throttle on downshifts faster than any driver could.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-363123\" src=\"https:\/\/www.supercars.net\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/06\/Capture-2.jpg\" alt=\"Ferrari 488 GTE\" width=\"1919\" height=\"926\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.supercars.net\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/06\/Capture-2.jpg 1919w, https:\/\/www.supercars.net\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/06\/Capture-2-300x145.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.supercars.net\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/06\/Capture-2-1024x494.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/www.supercars.net\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/06\/Capture-2-100x48.jpg 100w, https:\/\/www.supercars.net\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/06\/Capture-2-770x372.jpg 770w, https:\/\/www.supercars.net\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/06\/Capture-2-1536x741.jpg 1536w, https:\/\/www.supercars.net\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/06\/Capture-2-293x141.jpg 293w, https:\/\/www.supercars.net\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/06\/Capture-2-1400x676.jpg 1400w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1919px) 100vw, 1919px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The 488 EVO saw an introduction of minor underbody and side skirt aerodynamics and a slightly reshaped rear diffuser. It also updated the transmission to an even faster unit, capable of sub-40 millisecond shifts, and brought a new dash, roll cage, and interior package that made the car stiffer.<\/p>\n<p>No matter which version, however, hearing the twin turbos fluttering away off throttle, and the traditional Ferrari scream at high revs from the V8 is just a joyous thing.
