An Important Historical Race<\/h2>\n

The 1966 Daytona race was an important milestone in the year that would culminate in Ford beating Ferrari at Le Mans. This year, Ford<\/a> wanted to commemorate that will with a 2021 Ford GT Heritage Edition<\/a>. The tribute car receives a matching livery to that car and the number 98 is painted on the doors.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

The car also gets on-piece Heritage Gold 20-inch forged-aluminum wheels and Brembo brakes with red calipers. Buyers can add a Heritage Upgrade Package, which includes carbon fiber wheels and gloss red accents as well as carbon fiber door panels.<\/p>\n

This version of the GT has not been altered from a performance standpoint. You still have the same twin-turbocharged V6 engine that shrieked its way to victory at Le Mans.<\/strong><\/p>\n

This isn’t the first time that Ford has built a new GT honoring the 1966 racing wins. Previously, the company created a black-and-silver version of the car to commemorate the car that won at Le Mans in 1966 as well as the other cars that managed to take the crown in 1967 and 1968.<\/p>\n

Additionally, Ford will make 40 of what’s its calling Studio Collection graphics packages for the 2021 and 2022 GT<\/strong>. \u201cThe combination of the stripes and accents invokes the emotion of speed and draws your eye to some of the most prominent features of the GT,\u201d says Garen Nicoghosian, design head at Multimatic, the company that assembles the GT for Ford.<\/p>\n

Those cars will be in addition to this new 2021 GT Heritage Edition. You can see several images of the Heritage Edition below.<\/p>\n
