Worldwide Auctioneers announced that a 1936 Delahaye 135 Competition Disappearing Top Convertible by coachbuilder Figoni & Falaschi will headline the consignments for its second The Auburn Auction on September 5th, 2009.\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

Lauded by Club Delahaye archivists as, “one of the most elegant creations of Joseph Figoni and one of the most important Delahaye cars, correct in all aspects,” this rare and beautiful automobile has won numerous Best of Show Concours Awards and is a 100 point CCCA Premier Award Winner.<\/p>\n

“There can be few more fitting automobiles to headline The Auburn Auction, with its declared objective of bringing the great cars back to the Classic Car Capital of the world,” said Rod Egan, Managing Partner and Chief Auctioneer.<\/p>\n

Worldwide also confirmed that the one and only Duesenberg Model J Prototype, the sole Model Y ever completed, will also be offered.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are excited to have been entrusted with the sale of this 1927 Duesenberg Model Y Phaeton, an automobile that absolutely captures the essence Auburn\u2019s proud motoring heritage,\u201d said John Kruse, Managing Partner.<\/p>\n

The Model Y was a transition between Models X and J. On display today in the Auburn Cord Duesenberg Museum, it is truly a \u201cunique and wonderful automobile that offers collectors a once in a lifetime chance to acquire something very special. It has been in the care of one family since the fifties and considering its importance, I would not be surprised if gets tucked away by a new owner for at least that long again. After \"\"<\/a>all, it is the only one in the world and it presents today just as Augie Duesenberg himself left it,\u201d said Rod Egan, Managing Partner & Chief Auctioneer.<\/p>\n

The Delahaye and Duesenberg join early consignments which include a 1959 Talbot Lago America Coupe, the very last Talbot Lago built, a venerable 1937 Cord 812 SC Phaeton, formerly owned by the founder of the Auburn Cord Duesenberg Club, an exciting collection of Cadillacs from the Sterling McCall Museum, all offered at no reserve and a stately 1933 Auburn 8-101A Convertible Cabriolet.<\/p>\n

The Auburn Auction takes place at Worldwide Auctioneers US Headquarters in Auburn, Indiana, on Saturday September 5th, 2009, as the town coincidentally plays host to the famous Auburn Cord Duesenberg Festival that same Labor Day Weekend.<\/p>\n
