The final round of the Historic Sports Car Club Guards Trophy for Sports Racing and GT cars took place October 17th, 2009 at the Silverstone National circuit.<\/p>\n

The Guards Trophy championship is open to Sports Racing and GT cars built before 1966 which have a model competition history from the original period. There is also a class for Pre 1969 2 litre or under Sports Racing cars. The championship has been very well supported through 2009, and the final race at Silverstone was a 15 minute sprint race.<\/p>\n

Michel Schryver took pole position in his 1967 Chevron B6 by 1.08 seconds from Graeme Dodd in his blue and orange 1968 Ginetta G16. Three Chevron B8\u2019s lead by James Schryver lined up next on the grid.<\/p>\n

From the start Michel Schryver took the lead with James Schryver going straight in to second place. Michel dominated the race, leading from start to finish, but the second place battle between James Schryver and Graeme Dodd lasted the entire race with position swapping but in the end James had the upper hand by only 3\/10th of a second.<\/p>\n

Class winners included Matthew Newman in his 1963 Lotus 23B managed 7th, Simon Garrad in his 1965 TVR 400 Griffiths, finishing 8th overall, Stephen Radcliffe in his e-type Jaguar finished 10th, Andrew Smith finished 11th in his 1964 Marcos 1800GT, Alan Cosby in his 1958 Lola Mk1 finished 14th, Robert Barrie got his 1965 Porsche 911 to 18th, Andy Somerville managed 21st in his 1962 Triumph TR4, Mark Hoble in his 1965 Morgan Plus 4 and Ben Adams Turner MkII winning the other two classes.<\/p>\n
