\"\"<\/a>Gooding & Company held its 2010 Scottsdale Auction event on January 22-23 in Scottsdale, Arizona, achieving nearly $34 million in total sales and an impressive 91% of lots sold.<\/p>\n

Gooding’s 3rd annual Scottsdale auction lasted two days for the first time, with an additional auction on Friday, January 22nd in addition to the original Saturday, January 23rd sale. Gooding offered 125 cars in total, with seven cars eclipsing the $1 million barrier and five exceeding $1.5 million.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis year was our most successful Scottsdale auction to date with a total of 91% sold,\u201d said David Gooding, president and founder of Gooding & Company. \u201cWe were thrilled to bring such an outstanding collection of automobiles to Arizona and to have so many cars break the $1 Million range.\u201d<\/p>\n

Top sale of the event went to the 1956 Jaguar D-Type Sports Racer at $3,740,000. Recently restored by Cavallo Motorsports, chassis XKD-528 was driven by Ken Miles and Carlyle Blackwell to victory at the 1958 Ponoma Six-Hour Enduro and it retains its original, matching numbers engine. The sale of the D-Type marks the third consecutive year that Gooding & Company sold the top-selling car of Scottsdale Auction Week.<\/p>\n

Rounding out the top five sales include the 1959 Ferrari 250 GT Series 1 Cabriolet at $2,145,000, 1934 Duesenberg Model J Disappearing Top Convertible Coupe that sold for $1,815,000, the 1932 Alfa Romeo 6C 1750 Series V Gran Sport at $1,540,000 and the 1936 Hispano-Suiza Type 68 J12 Cabriolet that also brought $1,540,000.<\/p>\n

Other noteworthy offerings include the 1959 Jaguar Costin Lister Sports Racer, winner of the 1959 SCCA C-Modified National Championship, that made a world record $1,100,000, the 1965 Shelby 427 S\/C Cobra at $1,028,500 and the non-sale of the 1962 Shelby 260 Factory Competition Cobra at $1,600,000.<\/p>\n

Gooding & Company offered 125 automobiles for sale, with 114 finding a new owner, reflecting an 91% sales rate. Total sales volume was $33,990,250, inclusive of buyer\u2019s premiums. The average price per car sold was $298,160.<\/p>\n
