In addition, the sale will also feature a diverse range of low-mileage, as-new late model BMW\u2019s and Mercedes-Benz automobiles from the same collection, including AMG and M-powered machines.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cRM is delighted to have been chosen to present this outstanding group of cars at auction. Rarely do we get to see such an unparalleled group of cars offered for sale and from a buyer\u2019s perspective \u2013 the quality, rarity and outstanding level of maintenance and documentation are nearly unmatched \u2013 bidders will be able to buy with confidence in every respect.\u201d says Ian Kelleher, President and Chief Operating Officer of RM Auctions.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhen building the collection the owner\u2019s goal was to assemble the \u2018best of the very best\u2019 and this is certainly true of the offering, with each example fully documented and maintained to the highest possible standards. In addition, the selection of cars on offer features many rare color combinations, and many examples have undergone professional, concours-quality restorations, making for a range of exclusive, not-to-be-missed ownership opportunities for muscle car enthusiasts,\u201d he adds.<\/p>\n<p>Headlining the line-up is a 1969 Chevrolet Corvette L88, fully documented with low mileage. Powered by a 430-horsepower 454-cubic inch engine, the L88 is one of 18 different Corvettes slated for the auction block during the event. Another star attraction for the sale is a 1970 Chevelle LS6 Convertible, considered one of the most desirable of the genre. Equipped with a massive 450-horsepower 454-cubic inch V8, the Chevelle LS6 is one of only 18 in existence and believed to be the only LS6 Convertible with the attractive red\/black color combination. It is one of five Chevelles from the collection consigned to the June sale.<\/p>\n<p>The auction line-up also reflects the owner&#8217;s enthusiasm for GTOs &#8211; a lifelong passion that can be traced back to his childhood growing up in Detroit and a superb 1965 Tiger Gold Pontiac GTO driven by his parents during his youth. On offer at the June sale are some 20 examples, headlined by a 1969 Pontiac GTO &#8220;The Judge&#8221;, restored by marque specialist Scott Tiemann of Supercar Specialties.<\/p>\n<p>Other notable highlights include: a 1970 Ford Mustang Boss 429, one of just 498 examples produced that year, and two 1969 Chevrolet Camaro Z28s.<\/p>\n<p>RM\u2019s upcoming San Diego sale continues the company\u2019s strong presence in California which has included a string of highly successful private collection sales in recent years.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Over the last several years we have worked actively in serving and representing Southern California collectors at auction,&#8221; adds Kelleher. &#8220;Our upcoming Classic Muscle &amp; Modern Performance event not only builds on RM&#8217;s reputation as the specialists for the auction of private and estate collections, but also as the preeminent and preferred auction house serving California in all areas of the collector car market.
