He then transitioned to the role of team owner where he led his teams and drivers for the past 15 seasons before retiring in January of this year. Overall, Prudhomme has totaled an impressive combination of six National Hot Rod Association (NHRA) World Championships and 112 National Event victories.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m very excited to be a part of the Dana Point Concours d\u2019Elegance this year as Honorary Chairman,\u201d said Prudhomme, \u201cI love all types of automobiles and this event has something for everyone.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Prudhomme will be displaying his recently restored 1967 Dodge D-700 Crew Cab Ramp Truck, along with his 1970 yellow Plymouth Barracuda Hot Wheels Funny Car at the 2010 Dana Point Concours D\u2019Elegance. Snake\u2019s remarkable driving career began in 1962 with his first Top Fuel victory at \u201cSmokers March Meet\u201d in Bakersfield, Calif., before ending with 49 NHRA career victories \u2013 the sixth most in NHRA history \u2013 in 1994. For his career, Prudhomme reached the finals 68 times, posting a remarkable 35 wins in 45 Funny Car finals (.777 win percentage) and 14 wins in 23 Top Fuel finals rounds (.609 win percentage). Overall, he won 389 of 589 rounds of competition for a .660 winning percentage.<\/p>\n<p>In addition, prominent car collectors will be exhibiting their cars at the Dana Point Concours d\u2019Elegance including the Nethercutt Collection, Peter &amp; Merle Mullin, C. A. &#8220;Skeets&#8221; Dunn, Aaron &amp; Valerie Weiss and the William Lyon Family.<\/p>\n<p>The Nethercutt Collection will be displaying a 12-cylinder 1934 Packard 1108 Twelve Sport Phaeton with Coachwork by LeBaron, Peter and Merle Mullin will show a 1939 Bugatti Aravis T57SC, C. A. &#8220;Skeets&#8221; Dunn is bringing the prototype 1951 Alfa 1900 Touring Coupe, Aaron and Valerie Weiss will display their 1929 Auburn 8-120 and the William Lyon Family will bring their exquisite 1965 Alfa Romeo Giulia TZ2.<\/p>\n<p>The 28th Annual Dana Point Concours d&#8217;Elegance will take place on Sunday, June 27, 2010 on the Monarch Beach Golf Links at the St. Regis resort in Dana Point, California. This year&#8217;s event will feature 100 years of Alfa Romeo and celebrate 80 years of design from Pininfarina. The Dana Point Concours d&#8217;Elegance is a volunteer-run, 501(c)3 not-for-profit organization, with all excess proceeds supporting the Ocean Institute, the Mary &amp; Dick Allen Diabetes Center at Hoag Hospital and other Southern California youth charities.<\/p>\n<p>The event is operated primarily as a Classic Car Club of America (CCCA) Concours, with additional classes showcasing interesting and relevant automobiles. Southern California is the automotive culture capital of the world with a deep history in design, customization and motorsports.The Dana Point Concours organizing committee aspires to create a premier automotive event that showcases this rich heritage.
