\"\"<\/a>RM Auctions will hold its 2010 Sports and Classics of Monterey auction on August 12th to 14th at the Portola Hotel and Spa and Monterey Convention Center in Monterey, California. RM’s 25th annual auction will feature approximately 225 cars, with 20 automobiles estimated to garner over $1 million.<\/p>\n

\u201cRM has truly pulled out all the stops for this year’s Monterey sale. From a magnificent series of sports & racing cars, to the best in American classics and European elegance, the line-up is second to none, and has attracted strong early interest from RM\u2019s global clientele to set the scene for an unprecedented sale,” said Ian Kelleher, President and Chief Operating Officer, RM Auctions.<\/p>\n

Headlining the sale is a 1958 Ferrari 250 \u2018Pontoon Fender\u2019 Testa Rossa, s\/n 0738 TR, which RM bills as the “most important and valuable motor car ever offered” during Monterey\u2019s auction week. Other highlights include a 1949 Delahaye 175 S Roadster; 1938 Talbot-Lago T150-C Lago Speciale Teardrop Coupe; 1931 Bugatti Type 51 Grand Prix; 1957 Jaguar D-Type Sports Racer and 1933 Duesenberg Model SJ Riviera Phaeton, among others.<\/p>\n

In addition to the headline Ferrari 250 TR, RM’s Monterey sale also offers no less than 25 Ferraris, including a 1954 Ferrari 375MM Pinin Farina Berlinetta; 1954 Ferrari 500 Mondial Berlinetta; 1959 Ferrari 250 GT LWB California Spyder; 1957 Ferrari 250 Pinin Farina Spyder Series I and 1959 Ferrari 410 Superamerica Series III Coupe.<\/p>\n

RM\u2019s extended Monterey auction program kicks off on Thursday, August 12th with a dedicated Ford-themed auction. The evening sale will feature a roster of Ford Motor Company automobiles, including 18 concept vehicles and one of the oldest surviving Fords in existence, a 1903 Ford Model A Rear Entrance Tonneau. Proceeds from the sale of the FMC\u2019s selection of concept vehicles will benefit the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation and The Children\u2019s Center, an organization in Michigan that addresses the needs and problems of troubled children, youths and families.<\/p>\n

Last year, RM Auctions offered 239 cars for sale, with 206 finding new owners, reflecting an 86% sale rate. The total sales volume was $35,522,600 and the average price per car sold was $172,439.<\/p>\n

RM’s annual Sports and Classics of Monterey event returns to the Portola Hotel and Monterey Convention Center, August 12th to 14th, 2010. The auction preview will commence August 11th from 9am \u2013 6pm, followed by full-day previews on August 12th through 14th with auction action each evening. Admission to the preview is $40.00 USD per person. The $200 bidder registration admits two to preview and auction, and includes a catalog. An official auction catalog is available for $120, although does not constitute admission to the sale.<\/p>\n
