RM Auctions’ London sale will feature over 100 cars, headlined by the “Most Famous Car in the World” 1964 Aston Martin DB5 of James Bond; the ex-Masten Gregory 1952 Jaguar C-Type; 2010 Pagani Zonda R; 1904 DeDion-Bouton Model ADL Rear-Entry Tonneau; 1961 Ferguson Climax P99 Four-Wheel-Drive F1 Racing Car; 1971 Lamborghini Miura SVJ; 1938 Talbot-Lago T23 Teardrop Coupe and 1931 Bentley 8-Litre Open Tourer.<\/p>\n

RM is also presenting 23 examples from the Hooper Corporate Collection (Lots 110 \u2013 132) as a featured segment of its Automobiles of London sale, many of which have been in the collection\u2019s care since the 1980s. Highlights include: a gold-plated aluminium body 1920 Pierce-Arrow Model 48 2\/3-Passenger Coupe; a 1935 Auburn 851 Supercharged Speedster; a 1964 Rolls-Royce Phantom V Seven-Passenger Limousine, formerly owned by New York Governor Nelson Rockefeller; a 1930 Rolls-Royce Phantom II featuring a unique one-off all-copper body by Brockman; and a 1955 Mercedes-Benz 300SL Coupe. The London sale features nine Ferraris, including a totally original, matching-numbers, factory-certified prototype 365 California Spyder.<\/p>\n

\u201cOver the past four years RM\u2019s London sale has earned a reputation as a premier event on the global collector car calendar. Interest in this year\u2019s sale has been phenomenal, leading us to expand our auction offering to over 100 quality automobiles sourced from 16 countries,\u201d says Max Girardo, Managing Director, RM Europe.<\/p>\n

\u201cIn addition to the traditional selection of collector cars, RM is delighted to present the two \u2018mechanical\u2019 celebrities from the classic 007 film, Goldfinger at our London sale \u2013 Pussy Galore\u2019s Hiller Helicopter and Bond\u2019s DB5 \u2013 a rare opportunity to purchase a piece of movie history.\u201d<\/p>\n

In 2009, RM Auctions offered 84 cars for sale, with 69 finding new owners, reflecting an 82% sale rate. The total sales volume was \u00a310,979,090 and the average price per car sold was \u00a3159,117. Top sale went to the 2006 Mercedes-Benz CLK GTR Roadster that sold for \u00a3616,000.<\/p>\n

Presented by RM Auctions, the Automobiles of London event will be held October 27th, 2010 at Battersea Evolution, London, England. A full day preview will be held October 26th from 10.00am – 5.00pm GMT, followed by all the auction on October 27th from 4.00pm GMT. Admission to this event requires the purchase of an official auction catalog, available for \u00a350. The catalog admits two and must be presented at the entrance to be granted entry.<\/p>\n
