\nRM Auctions is set to continue its strong track record in Florida when it returns to the Ritz-Carlton Hotel for the annual Amelia Island auction, to be held March 12, 2011.
\nNow in its 13th year, the official auction house of the Amelia Island Concours d\u2019Elegance will showcase over 100 quality motor cars, spanning a century of automotive design, from a series of early Brass Era cars to British and American road and racing cars and European sports cars.
\nAn obvious highlight is the 1953 Ferrari 212 Inter Coupe by Vignale (s\/n 0267 EU), which surfaced from a Mid-Western garage last week over 25 years after it was first parked. Considered one of the most original examples in existence, the early production Ferrari 212 Inter Coupe by Vignale, chassis number 0267 EU, is joined by one of the three 1952 Ferrari 340 Mexico Berlinettas, chassis number 0224 AT as the latest feature attractions for RM\u2019s March 12 Amelia Island sale. Offered from the same owner, the auction represents the first time each has come to market in over three decades.
\n\u201cWe are honored to have been selected to present these important Ferraris at our upcoming Amelia Island sale by their current long-term owner. Offered for the first time in decades, each boasts a fascinating provenance and we expect their upcoming sale will incite significant interest from the global collector car community,\u201d says RM Car Specialist Gord Duff, who was responsible for securing the cars for the company\u2019s upcoming auction.
\nThe two historic Ferraris lead a roster of no less than five other examples from the Modenese Prancing Horse, including a 1967 Ferrari 330 GTS (Est. $650,000 – $800,000); and a Classiche-certified 1957 Ferrari 250 GT Boano Berlinetta, s\/n 0673 GT, the second last Boano built (Est. $550,000 – $650,000).

In total, 11 automobiles \u2013 spanning over 30 years of design \u2013 will be offered \u2018without reserve\u2019. Tallman Collection Highlights include: a 1912 Packard 6-48 Runabout, built new for the Packard President and originally used as a promotional car (Est. $300,000 – $400,000); a 1903 Cadillac Model A Rear-Entrance Tonneau, which comes to market for the first time in 40 years, having completed the London to Brighton run on two separate occasions (Est. $75,000 – $100,000); and a handsome, multiple award-winning 1930 Cadillac V16 Roadster, originally built as a show car (Est. $350,000 – $450,000).

RM Auctions Amelia Island Auction 2011 – Featured Cars<\/strong><\/h2>\n

1952 Ferrari 340 Mexico Berlinetta<\/strong> – S\/N 0224 AT is one of only three Berlinettas built; it boasts an impressive competition history having been successfully campaigned at a number of the world\u2019s most prestigious racing events. Most significantly, 0224 AT was piloted by famed racing driver Luigi Chinetti and Jean Francis to an impressive third overall finish at the grueling 1952 Carrera Panamericana; it was the only one of the three 340 Mexico coupes entered in the legendary Mexican road race to finish. It was also raced in period at the 1953 Mille Miglia, guaranteeing its future entry into the famed Mille Miglia retrospective. Purchased by its current owner in 1979, 0224 AT comes to market following long-term display at the Auburn-Cord-Duesenberg Museum in Indiana. (Estimate: $2,750,000 – $3,500,000).<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

1953 Ferrari 212 Inter Coupe<\/strong> – One of just six examples bodied by Vignale, chassis number 0267 EU was displayed at the Turin Motor Show in 1953 before being sold to its first owner, well-known French collector Jean-Louis Lafourcade. In 1959, 0267 EU was imported to England, where it remained up until it was purchased by its current long-term owner, a respected collector and Ferrari enthusiast in 1977. Since the mid-1980s, 0267 EU sat untouched in a private garage in America\u2019s Midwest, emerging for the first time in decades just last week (January 28). Presented in very original condition, with the exception of its paint which was returned to its original color scheme of black with a green roof and fins in 1979, it will be presented in \u2018as is\u2019 condition. (Estimate: $375,000 – $500,000).<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

1930 Duesenberg Model J Convertible Coupe with Murphy Coachwork<\/strong> – The Model J Duesenberg has long been regarded as the most outstanding example of design and engineering of the classic era. Introduced in 1929, its announcement halted trading on the New York Stock Exchange. At $8,500 for the chassis alone \u2013 a price that approached $20,000 with coachwork \u2013 it was by far the most expensive car in America when introduced. The example signed to RM\u2019s Amelia Island sale \u2013 a 1930 Duesenberg Model J Convertible Coupe with coachwork by Murphy, J331, has been restored with its original engine; it carries an auction estimate of $900,000 – $1,100,000.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

1938 Peugeot Darl\u2019mat Leger \\’Special Sport\\’ Roadster<\/strong>– With its swooping lines and fully-skirted fenders, the 1938 Peugeot is another example of automotive styling poised for RM\u2019s Amelia Island auction stage in March. Considered one of the most desirable Peugeots produced, it is the result of a collaboration between Emilie Darl\u2019mat, one of the world\u2019s largest Peugeot dealers at the time, designer Georges Paulin and coachbuilder, Marcel Pourtout. One of only 53 roadsters built, and one of the preferred 1938 cars built on the Legere chassis, this example has been shown at the Pebble Beach Concours d\u2019Elegance where it was featured as part of a class that was a tribute to Paulin and Pourtout.
