Held in partnership with the Amelia Island Concours d\u2019Elegance, RM Auctions\u2019 13th annual auction will once again be held on the grounds of the Ritz-Carlton Hotel.<br \/>\nRM Auctions assembled more than 100 cars for the single-day auction, which will again act as a prelude to this year\u2019s Amelia Island Concours d\u2019Elegance. A featured highlight of the 2011 event will be pair of early Ferraris from the collection of Larry Nicklin, co-founder of the Ferrari Club of America. The 1952 Ferrari 340 Mexico Coupe, s\/n 0224 AT, is one of three coupes built and it finished 3rd overall at the 1952 Carrera Panamericana. The 1953 Ferrari 212 Inter Coupe by Vignale, s\/n 0267 EU, recently emerged from a garage untouched since the mid-1980s.<br \/>\nOther headline entries include the 1930 Duesenberg Model J Convertible Coupe with Murphy Coachwork; 1911 Rolls-Royce 40\/50hp Silver Ghost Open Drive Landaulette; 1930 Alfa Romeo 6C 1750 GS Spider; 1938 Peugeot Darl\u2019mat Leger &#8216;Special Sport&#8217; Roadster; and 1908 Oldsmobile Limited Prototype.<br \/>\nRM Auctions will also present three cars from the collection of Brock Yates at Amelia Island. The first is the Elder-Crawford Indy Roadster, better known as the \u201cMeguiar\u2019s Mirror-Glaze Special,\u201d which boasts Indianapolis race history, complete provenance and a correct Offy motor. Also offered from his collection are the Kurtis 500S Roadster, one of 24 built by Arlen Kurtis, and an Edmunds Midget \u201cCasey Special,\u201d never damaged and race-ready.<br \/>\n<strong><a href=\"http:\/\/viewer.zmags.com\/publication\/30047067#\/30047067\/1\">(RM Auctions Automobiles of Amelia Island Sale 2011 &#8211; View Digital Catalog).<\/a><\/strong><br \/>\nIn 2010, RM Auctions offered 112 automobiles for sale, with 98 finding a new owner, reflecting an 88% sales rate. Total sales volume was $19,147,550, inclusive of buyer\u2019s premiums. The average price per car sold was $198,383. Introduced in 1929, its announcement halted trading on the New York Stock Exchange. At $8,500 for the chassis alone \u2013 a price that approached $20,000 with coachwork \u2013 it was by far the most expensive car in America when introduced. Most significantly, 0224 AT was piloted by famed racing driver Luigi Chinetti and Jean Francis to an impressive third overall finish at the grueling 1952 Carrera Panamericana; it was the only one of the three 340 Mexico coupes entered in the legendary Mexican road race to finish. It was also raced in period at the 1953 Mille Miglia, guaranteeing its future entry into the famed Mille Miglia retrospective. In 1959, 0267 EU was imported to England, where it remained up until it was purchased by its current long-term owner, a respected collector and Ferrari enthusiast in 1977. Since the mid-1980s, 0267 EU sat untouched in a private garage in America\u2019s Midwest, emerging for the first time in decades just last week (January 28). Considered one of the most desirable Peugeots produced, it is the result of a collaboration between Emilie Darl\u2019mat, one of the world\u2019s largest Peugeot dealers at the time, designer Georges Paulin and coachbuilder, Marcel Pourtout.
