{"id":369370,"date":"2011-05-24T10:00:03","date_gmt":"2011-05-24T14:00:03","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/sportscardigest.com\/?p=34691"},"modified":"2024-01-16T11:38:44","modified_gmt":"2024-01-16T11:38:44","slug":"concorso-deleganza-villa-deste-2011-results-and-photos","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.supercars.net\/blog\/concorso-deleganza-villa-deste-2011-results-and-photos\/","title":{"rendered":"Concorso d&#8217;Eleganza Villa d&#8217;Este (2011) &#8211; Results and Photos"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Concorso d\u2019Eleganza Villa d\u2019Este 2011 took place May 20-22 on the grounds of the Grand Hotel Villa d\u2019Este and Villa Erba on Lake Como in Cernobbio, Italy.<\/p>\n<p>The Trofeo BMW Group, awarded \u201cBest of Show\u201d by the judges at the Concorso d\u2019Eleganza Villa d\u2019Este 2011 went to a 1968 Alfa Romeo 33 Stradale owned by Clive Joy, while the historic Coppa d\u2019Oro Villa d\u2019Este &#8211; Best of Show by Public Referendum at Villa d\u2019Este was awarded to the 1942 Alfa Romeo 6C 2500 SS of Corrado Lopresto. In the Concorso d\u2019Eleganza Design Award for concept cars and prototypes, the public voted for the Aston Martin V12 Zagato celebrating its world premiere.<\/p>\n<p>For the first time the cars were joined by motorcycles competing for class and overall victory in a competition of their own, as fans of two-wheeled classics headed to the Villa Erba for Saturday\u2019s motorcycle concours. Another new feature of the Concorso was the sale held by RM Auctions on Saturday evening, which tempted collectors with a line-up of 32 cars.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOur aim was to take this long-established event into new territory while preserving its character,\u201d said Karl Baumer, President of the Concorso d\u2019Eleganza Villa d\u2019Este and Director of BMW Group Classic, outlining the reasons behind the changes. \u201cThe main initiative we introduced to give people extra opportunity to visit the Concorso was the addition of a second Public Day,\u201d continued Baumer. Dr Jean-Marc Droulers, President of Villa d\u2019Este S.p.A., also declared himself pleased with the weekend: \u201cWe\u2019ve seen cars and motorcycles which made our hearts beat a little faster \u2013 both within the small, exclusive environs of the Villa d\u2019Este and together with the wider public at the Villa Erba.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The Trofeo BMW Group in the first Concorso d\u2019Eleganza Villa d\u2019Este for motorcycles was won by an American Pierce Four from 1910. After presenting the award, General Director of BMW Motorrad Hendrik von Kuenheim shifted the spotlight to plans for the years ahead, \u201cWe are looking to develop this concours into a meeting point for all enthusiasts of motorcycle design.
