The Historic Motors Sports Association (HMSA) held the LSR Invitational event at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca on June 7-8, 2011. The LSR Invitational presented a strong field of historic race cars circling the 11-turn, 2.238-mile Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca road course in Monterey, California.<\/p>\n
The 2011 International Triumph Challenge featuring the Kastner Cup was the highlight event, with two thirty minute races dedicated to Triumph and Kas Kastner, former competition department head at Triumph USA.<\/p>\n
It has been said that the great achievements of Triumph in amateur racing could not have happened with Kastner; the Kastner Cup honors his many contributions. Jerry Barker, driving a 1963 Triumph Herald, was named winner of the 2011 Kastner Cup, while Tony Garmey won the race in the unique 1967 Triumph TR250K.<\/p>\n
In addition to the Triumphs, the LSR Invitational by HMSA historic race weekend included a diverse selection of race cars, headlined by Erickson Shirley’s new Lister Chevrolet; UOP Shadow DN3 F1 driven by Herindra De Siva; Steven Read’s Ferrari 512M; Peter Nitoglia’s Alfa Romeo GTA; 1952 Siata 300BC driven by Marty Stein; Porsche 911 RSR IROC of Chip Connor; Jonathan Feiber’s Maserati Tipo 61 Birdcage; and the three Park family Cobras.<\/p>\n
