Sold as engine and chassis only like all Pre-World War I Rolls-Royce, and bodied for Sir James Dale of Surrey by coachbuilder of repute, Mann Egerton of Norwich, chassis number 2208 has been fully researched and restored, using original factory photographs.<br \/>\n&#8220;Rarely does a Silver Ghost with this level of documentation and originality come to market,&#8221; said Rod Egan, Worldwide Auctioneers Principal &amp; Chief Auctioneer. &#8220;This is one of the few Tourers that exist in as-new condition, with engine, gearbox, chassis and fitments in superb shape and all original to this car. The charm of driving a very high-geared Edwardian Ghost is addictive and this represents the definitive opportunity to experience reliable, trouble-free motoring in a perfectly correct, century-old design. This is the supreme example of the marque and it would be welcomed at any significant event in the world. In the words of the highly regarded Rolls-Royce expert who recently examined it, &#8216;When this car arrives on the Concours field, the others may as well pack up and go home.'&#8221;<br \/>\nAnother offering featured at the 2011 Worldwide Auburn Auction is the 1965 Shelby Mustang GT 350 Competition Model, one of only 36 ever built. Having been raced two more times in Florida prior to 1978, it was destined not to move again until 1992, when after cosmetic refreshment it competed at Road Atlanta and Watkins Glen in 1993 SAAC vintage events as well as the R Model Reunion.<br \/>\n&#8220;The ultimate survivor, it is the lowest mileage, least raced, never-crashed, complete Shelby Mustang GT350 R Model in existence,&#8221; said Kruse.<br \/>\nAdditional highlights of the Worldwide Auburn auction include an original 1948 Delahaye 135M (Modified) Drop Head Coupe that recently emerged after 35 years in a Washington barn, complete with volcanic dust from the 1982 Mount St. Helen\u2019s eruption. Offered for sale as found and without reserve, this French classic has had just three owners from new and it still runs and drives. It will line-up alongside a host of other notable automobiles, including a numbers-matching 1925 Bentley 3-Litre Touring with original Gurney Nutting open coachwork and fully documented history, a 1963 Ferrari 330 GT America, number 4 of only 50 ever made and a 1930 Cadillac V16 Fleetwood Convertible Coupe.<br \/>\nOther vehicles slated for the sale include the most original unrestored Futurliner in existence, a 1939 GMC Futurliner #3, one of only twelve built in 1941 for the Parade of Progress, and a venerable 1911 Stanley Model 72 Steamer, the only surviving example in existence. The Stanley will be offered for sale without reserve.<br \/>\nThe Worldwide Auburn Auction is scheduled for September 2-4 at the Worldwide Auction Park in Auburn. Following the success of last year\u2019s expanded sale, the 2011 event will expand again to include a car corral, vendor booths and great food, all running in parallel with three days of auction action.
