Bonhams held its 2011 Quail Lodge auction on August 18-19 at the Quail Lodge in Carmel, California, resulting in $11 million in total sales and a 50% sell-through rate.<\/p>\n

Held in connection with The Quail, A Motorsport Gathering, the 14th annual Bonhams Quail Lodge sale featured approximately 130 cars and motorcycles.Top sales went to the 1957 BMW 507 Roadster that sold for $1,002,500, followed by the 1966 Porsche 906 Coupe at $898,000 and the Guggenheim Museum-owned 1979 BMW M1 Pro Car ordered new by racer Peter Gregg and painted by famed artist Frank Stella that exceeded estimates to achieve $852,000.<\/p>\n

Other Bonhams Quail Lodge Auction 2011 results included the price of $810,000 for the 1986 Porsche 962 IMSA GTP, winner of the 1987 and 1988 12 Hours of Sebring, a trio of Maseratis, a 1962 500 GT Allemano Coupe, a 1961 3500 GT Spyder and 1963 3500 GTi Superleggera Coupe that made a combined $1.1 million. The 1927 Lancia Lambda 7th Series Short Wheelbase Roadster, in barn-find condition, exceeded expectations and achieved $200,800, while a 1928 Coventry-Eagle 980cc Flying-8 OHV motorcycle sold for a record $263,500.<\/p>\n

Additionally, several other sales brought strong prices for cars such as the 1920 Rolls-Royce Silver Ghost Gentleman\u2019s Roadster, which made $435,000, the 1937 Duesenberg Model J Limousine custom-made for Father Divine that sold for $400,000, and the prototype Lincoln Continental Limousine adapted for Pope Paul VI and the Chicago parade vehicle for the Apollo astronauts that went for $220,000.<\/p>\n
