{"id":369610,"date":"2011-12-09T07:00:09","date_gmt":"2011-12-09T12:00:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/sportscardigest.com\/?p=38646"},"modified":"2024-12-06T03:34:36","modified_gmt":"2024-12-06T03:34:36","slug":"coys-true-greats-2011-auction-results","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.supercars.net\/blog\/coys-true-greats-2011-auction-results\/","title":{"rendered":"Coys True Greats 2011 &#8211; Auction Results"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Coys True Greats auction was held Wednesday, 7th December 2011 at the Royal Horticultural Halls in London, resulting in total sales of \u00a34.5 million.<\/p>\n<p>Top sale at the 2011 Coys True Greats sale went to a Mercedes-Benz 540K formerly owned by Bernie Ecclestone, which had been estimated at \u00a3500,000, that sold for \u00a3864,000.A Cord 810 Phaeton owned by Jimmy Page and Duncan Bannatyne sold for \u00a380,000 and a Mercedes Benz 300SL Roadster which had been stored in an Edinburgh garage for the last 23 years made \u00a3343,000, \u00a3100,000 over its estimate.<\/p>\n<p>Chris Routledge, Managing Director of Coys said, \u201cIt was a fantastic sale with dealers and collectors from all over the world participating. There is also no doubt that many people who in the past invested in stock and shares are now looking to classic cars as a good investment for the future.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Another notable auction result was the Aston Martin DB5 ordered by George Harrison in 1965 that made \u00a3350,000. Manufactured in late 1964, the DB5\/1896\/R was supplied new on January 1st 1965 through Brydor Cars of Brooklands in Surrey to the famous Beatle and had created worldwide interest when it was put up for sale.
