{"id":369941,"date":"2012-09-07T08:00:38","date_gmt":"2012-09-07T12:00:38","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/sportscardigest.com\/?p=43669"},"modified":"2024-01-13T07:49:53","modified_gmt":"2024-01-13T07:49:53","slug":"salon-prive-concours-delegance-2012-report-and-photos","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.supercars.net\/blog\/salon-prive-concours-delegance-2012-report-and-photos\/","title":{"rendered":"Salon Priv\u00e9 (2012) &#8211; Winners"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Salon Prive Concours d&#8217;Elegance 2012 was held 5\u20137 September at the 200-acre Syon Park in London, with a line-up of 111 cars and bikes featured at the seventh annual event.<\/p>\n<p>The renamed Chubb Insurance Concours d&#8217;Elegance at Salon Prive featured Vintage Competition Bugattis, the Designs of Carrozzeria Touring, among the ten classes of automobiles and motorcycles displayed and paraded on the grounds of Syon House, the London home of the Duke of Northumberland.<\/p>\n<p>Within the Carrozzeria Touring Design Class were two Ferrari 166s, a 166MM Barchetta and an Inter Coupe. The 1950 Barchetta is the 16th of just 25 bodied by Carrozzeria Touring and it comes with a fantastic racing history. As a works car, it competed at the Targa Florio and Mille Miglia events, and in more recent times, Monaco Historics and the Goodwood Festival of Speed. The 1949 Inter Coupe was also a Mille Miglia contender, but its competition background didn&#8217;t begin until the mid-nineties. Since then it has been displayed in Concours events throughout Europe where it has received numerous awards.<\/p>\n<p>Other Salon Prive Concours d&#8217;Elegance 2012 highlights included a 1912 Bugatti Type 16 number 471 \u2013 the oldest competition Bugatti and the personal racing car of Ettore Bugatti, the unique 1953 Pegaso Z-102 \u2018Thrill\u2019, 1934 Aston Martin Ulster, 1961 Lamborghini \u2018Flying Star\u2019 (Turin Motor Show car and also Carrozzeria Touring bodied), 1969 Lamborghini Muira S, 1965 ISO Grifo A3C, 1964 Alfa Romeo Giulia Sprint Speciale and a 1963 Shelby Cobra 289.<\/p>\n<p>The event also included two dedicated single-model classes, both of which celebrate important milestones. Firstly, with 13 red examples lined up alongside each other, Salon Prive celebrated 25 years of the first super car to exceed 200mph: the 478bhp Ferrari F40 in Class Ferrari F40 \u2013 Celebrating 25 Years of an Icon. Additionally, and celebrating its 60th birthday is the Mercedes-Benz SL represented here by the iconic 300SL Gullwing in Class Mercedes-Benz Gullwing \u2013 The Legend at 60.<\/p>\n<p>Some of these entrants participated in Salon Prive&#8217;s inaugural 21-mile Tour d&#8217;Elegance from The Royal Automobile Club&#8217;s Woodcote Park in Epsom to Syon House in West London, opening the Super Car Show and Concours d&#8217;Elegance on Wednesday 5th September.<\/p>\n<p>Best of Show at the 2012 Chubb Insurance Concours d&#8217;Elegance at Salon Prive was awarded to the 1950 Ferrari 166MM Barchetta owned by Sally and Dudley Mason-Styrron.
