The 50th anniversary of the Ferrari 250 GTO was celebrated at the 2012 Goodwood Revival, held 14-16 September at the Goodwood Motor Circuit in West Sussex, England.<\/p>\n

Between 1962 and 1964, Ferrari built just 36 250-series GTOs, plus three larger-engined 330 GTOs, to compete in the GT category of sports car racing. The Giotto Bizzarrini-conceived machine dominated for three seasons, bagging two outright wins in the Tourist Trophy and class honours in the Le Mans 24 Hour race among other victories.<\/p>\n

With the popularity of the Ferrari 250 GTO at seemingly an all-time high, it was logical that the famed sports car was honoured at the 2012 Goodwood Revival. A parade of Ferrari 250 GTOs ventured trackside for what organizers called, “among the most valuable cavalcades ever witnessed.”<\/p>\n

Several Ferrari GTO variants raced in the headline RAC TT Celebration race at Goodwood, with Formula One stalwart Jean Alesi joining Mark Hales behind the wheel of Nick Mason’s Ferrari 250 GTO.<\/p>\n
