The Concours d’Elegance of America 2013 will be held Sunday, July 28th at the Inn at St. John’s in Plymouth, Michigan.
\nThe 35th annual event will honor a wide variety of featured classes, including Detroit Iron: Cadillac, Chrysler, Lincoln and Packard; Indianapolis Iron: Duesenberg, Marmon and Stutz; London to Brighton; Mercedes-Benz Pagoda and 600; Can-Am; Vintage NASCAR; Porsche 911 – On the Road and On the Track; Jet-Age Convertibles and the 50th Anniversary of the 1963 Corvette, among others.<\/p>\n

\nA Special Class for 2013 will be Electric Cars: Past, Present and Future. Electric cars were popular in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. At that time, electric cars were favored since they provided a level of comfort and ease of operation that could not be met by gasoline powered cars. By the late 1930s, the popularity of electric cars had declined, mostly affected by the availability of mass-produced gasoline cars, electric starters and quicker refueling times. Some of the American manufacturers of electric cars in the early 20th century were Anthony Electric, Baker, Columbia, Anderson, Fritchle, Studebaker, Riker and Melburn.<\/p>\n
