1966 Lamborghini 350 GT sold for $742,630<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

The 2014 Russo and Steele Scottsdale Auction was held January 15-19 in Scottsdale, Arizona, resulting in more than $21 million in total sales and a sell-through rate approaching 70%. The five-day event saw attendance 35% higher than 2013.<\/p>\n

The top result at the Russo and Steele Scottsdale 2014 sale went to the 1966 Lamborghini 350 GT Coupe that sold for $742,630.With bodywork by Franco Scaglione and powered by the V-12 engine designed by Giotto Bizzarrini, chassis 211 was restored to original standards, including an engine rebuild at Bob Wallace Cars, the shop of the late former Lamborghini chief test driver Bob Wallace.<\/p>\n

A world record was set with the 1963 Pontiac Tempest Le Mans Super Duty drag racing car, one of two known examples remaining of the original six Coupes built by Pontiac to contest the NHRA\u2019s A\/Factory Experimental (A\/FX) class. Raced by Detroit\u2019s Stan Long Pontiac and tweaked with a heavy-duty driveline to handle the 421 engine\u2019s power and torque, the car remains famous as \u201cThe World\u2019s Fastest Tempest\u201d after driver Stan Antlocer blasted to a 11.93-second ET at 123.95 mph at Martin, Michigan\u2019s US 131 Dragway. The Tempest fell out of sight and in 2008, it was saved from the crusher and then restored by Super Car Specialties. The Tempest sold for $335,630 including commission.<\/p>\n

The one-off 2013 SRT Viper GTS Coupe was offered at no reserve on behalf of the Sons of Italy Foundation with proceeds to benefit its charitable and educational programs. The Viper celebrated the Foundation members\u2019 heritage with Italian Tricolore accents, plus Avorio Perla paintwork, Black Vapor custom wheels, and an endless list of factory-equipped features and options. This Viper garnered a winning bid of $236,500.<\/p>\n
