1937 Delahaye 135 Competition Court Torpedo Roadster sold for $6,600,000<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

The RM Auctions Amelia Island Concours 2014 sale was held March 8th on the grounds of the Ritz-Carlton Hotel in Amelia Island, Florida, resulting in $35,947,500 in total sales and a 97% sell-through rate. The result is a 34% increase over 2013, with bidders from 18 countries and 20% representing new clients for RM.<\/p>\n

RM Auctions assembled 91 automobiles for the single-day auction, which again served as a prelude to this year\u2019s Amelia Island Concours d\u2019Elegance<\/a>. The top result at the 2014 RM Amelia auction went to the 1937 Delahaye 135 Competition Court Torpedo Roadster offered from a half century of ownership from the Malcolm Pray Collection. One of only two surviving short chassis examples and the only surviving example with its G\u00e9o Ham body tag, the Delahaye achieved a world-record $6,600,000 to become the most valuable car ever sold during the Amelia Island weekend auctions.<\/p>\n

Additional top lots among the 16 offered from the Pray Collection include the 1958 BMW 507 Series II Roadster, which garnered a record $2,420,000, and a 1961 Ferrari 250 GT Series Cabriolet, which also sold at $1,760,000. Joining the Pray Collection at the top of the results was the 1957 Mercedes-Benz 300 SL Roadster, originally owned by Hollywood actress Natalie Wood, that sold for $1,842,500.<\/p>\n

Additional notable sales included a 1972 Ferrari 365 GTB\/4 Daytona Berlinetta which sold for $781,000, along with a 1939 Aston Martin 15\/98 Short Chassis Open Sports that sold for $616,000, well above its pre-sale estimate. Further results include a 1974 Iso Grifo 7-Liter and a 1972 Ferrari 365 GTC\/4 which both achieved auction record prices to sell for $440,000 and $335,500, respectively.<\/p>\n
