The Classic Sports Racing Group (CSRG) kicked off its 47th season at Sonoma Raceway Sears Point in Sonoma, California on April 4-6, 2014. The event featured testing on Friday, with vintage racing on the 12-turn, 2.52-mile road course on Saturday and Sunday. Each race group competed in three races each over the two days for a total of 24 races over the course of the weekend.<\/p>\n

The 2014 CSRG season opener was held in honor of David Love, a longtime Bay Area resident and CSRG’s co-founder, who passed away in 2013. Love was instrumental in the growth of the organization, which has contributed more than $600,000 to the Sonoma chapter of Speedway Children’s Charities, the charitable arm of Sonoma Raceway, through its race weekends. He raced his Ferrari 250 Testa Rossa in over 250 events before retiring in 2009.<\/p>\n

Notable and interesting entrants at the 2014 CSRG Sonoma Raceway historic races included the 1954 Ferrari 750 Monza Spider Scaglietti of Scott Drnek; John Goodman’s Ferrari Sparling 312P and Shelby Cobra FIA; Shadow Mk.III Can-Am of Fred Cziska; Tom Claridge\u2019s 1965 Crossle C9S and Kurtis 500S; Jeffrey Abramson’s Cooper T53; Thor Johnson’s Lotus 17; William Jordanov’s Lola T160; Rick Carlile’s TVR Vixen SR; Don Hogue’s Lotus Europa Type 47 and the ex-Arciero Brothers 1962 Lotus 23 of Jim Roth.<\/p>\n

Similar to the 2010<\/a>, 2011<\/a> and 2012<\/a> races, Senior Photographer Dennis Gray also documented the 2014 CSRG Season Opener at the Sonoma Raceway Sears Point road course. We split up Dennis’ pictures into two galleries.
