The Bonhams Scottsdale 2015 Auction will be staged Thursday, January 15th at the Westin Kierland Resort in Scottsdale, Arizona. Early consignments for Bonhams’ 4th annual January sale include a selection of European sporting cars.<\/p>\n

Last year\u2019s event saw several world auction records made with a 90% sell-through rate and nearly $25-million in sales. Most notable, however, were the results attained for Italian marques Alfa Romeo and Ferrari, particularly the 1931 Alfa Romeo 6C 1750 Supercharged Zagato Gran Sport Spider that sold for more than $3 million. The headline offerings at the Bonhams Scottsdale 2015 Auction will include a matching-numbers 1973 Porsche 911 Carrera RS 2.7. Built specifically for homologation so Porsche could competitively race in the 1970s, this model \u2013 compared to the already fast standard 911 \u2013 featured a host of additions, including stiffer suspension, wider rear wheels, larger brakes and the iconic rear spoiler, to name a few.<\/p>\n

Also from Germany is a 1955 Mercedes-Benz 300 SL ‘Gullwing’ Coupe. This is a matching numbers example with well documented history \u2013 first owned by Lord O\u2019Neill, Prime Minister of Northern Ireland \u2013 and has been restored by marque specialists.<\/p>\n

From Italy is a Pininfarina-styled, matching-numbers 1966 Ferrari 330 GTC finished in the period and original bronze color of Nocciola Mettalizatto.<\/p>\n

And from France is a 1962 Facel Vega Facel II \u2013 the sports tourer that was able to out-accelerate from 0-60 its rivals and is one of fewer than 185 produced between 1962 and 1964. Featuring the factory wire wheels, this long-time southern California car has been in the same family\u2019s ownership for nearly 35 years.<\/p>\n
