The Historic Sportscar Racing (HSR) Sebring Historic Races took place December 4-7, 2014 at the 17-turn, 3.74-mile Sebring International Raceway in Sebring, Florida. The final event of HSR’s racing season brought some interesting entries and generally good racing weather for the four-day event.<\/p>\n

The weekend action was devised as usual at an HSR event into feature races for the different groups, several one-hour multi-class enduro races and a 45-minute night race on the Friday. The headline race of the weekend was the ‘Four Hours of Sebring’ that took place on Sunday afternoon. HSR also wrapped up their 2014 season with a banquet under the stars and full moon in pit lane to award trophies and enjoy the glow of very successful season of racing.<\/p>\n

The iconic track attracted some notable participants such as the 1976 Chevrolet Dekon Monza, 1972 BMW 3.5 CSL, 1990 Chevrolet Intrepid GTP, Lola T70 Mk IIIB, Bailey GT40 Replica, VRC Porsche 906 Replica, 1987 Spice-Ferrari, 1976 Chevron B36 and 1993 Kudzu DG3-Mazda.<\/p>\n

It would seem that no matter the performance or skill level of the car and driver, no one is immune to the wear and tear that the Sebring course dishes out. At the outset of the weekend 35 cars were entered for the four-hour race but only 23 of them actually made it to the grid. And at the end of the four hours, there were only 13 cars at the checkered flag. That’s what makes Sebring so special, all drivers know that if you can get to the end it’s a real accomplishment.<\/p>\n

The Four Hours of Sebring endurance race was open to all classes except for the formula cars and the historic stock cars. Not surprisingly the Kudzu DG3-Mazda started off in the number one position on the grid followed by no fewer than 14 Porsches spanning 41 years of racing history. The Scott Spencer\/Rich Grupp Kudzu DG3-Mazda cruised to a 4-lap victory over the Steven White\/LP Dumoulin Porsche 997 Cup and the Riddell\/Lewis\/McCall Porsche Cayman<\/p>\n
