{"id":370822,"date":"2015-01-08T09:00:34","date_gmt":"2015-01-08T14:00:34","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/sportscardigest.com\/?p=73013"},"modified":"2024-12-01T22:26:08","modified_gmt":"2024-12-01T22:26:08","slug":"ferrari-race-goodwood-revival-2015","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.supercars.net\/blog\/ferrari-race-goodwood-revival-2015\/","title":{"rendered":"Goodwood Revival (2015) &#8211; Ferrari Race"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A special race exclusively for drum-braked Ferrari racing sports cars of the 1950s will be staged at the Goodwood Revival 2015, scheduled for September 11-13 at the Goodwood Motor Circuit in England.<\/p>\n<p>The Lavant Cup, which was held exclusively for <a title=\"2014 Goodwood Revival - Jaguar D-Type Race\" href=\"https:\/\/sportscardigest.com\/goodwood-revival-2014-jaguar-d-type-race-report-photos\/\">Jaguar D-Types<\/a> in 2014, will sing to the sound of an Italian opera as some of the most beautiful machines ever adorned by the Prancing Horse badge race for victory, driven by a number of the world&#8217;s top historic racers.<\/p>\n<p>Enzo Ferrari\u2019s machines achieved phenomenal success in international motor sport during the 1950s, taking five World Sportscar Championship titles, and scoring victories in all the classic races, including Le Mans, Mille Miglia, Targa Florio, Carrera Panamericana, Sebring, Nurburgring and Spa.<\/p>\n<p>Among the drivers who achieved these successes were Formula 1 World Champions Alberto Ascari, Giuseppe Farina, Juan Manuel Fangio and Phil Hill, grand prix winners Peter Collins, Dan Gurney, and Froilan Gonzalez, and sports car legends Olivier Gendebien and Clemente Biondetti.<\/p>\n<p>The Lavant Cup is set to feature such iconic machinery as the 166 MM, an example of which took Ferrari\u2019s maiden Le Mans triumph in 1949 in the hands of Luigi Chinetti and Lord Selsdon, the 340 MM, 375 MM and 750 Monza, all of which were instrumental in establishing Ferrari as the most successful sports car marque of the decade.<\/p>\n<p>Various iterations of the 250 Testa Rossa, which was taken to victory at Le Mans three times in four years from 1958-61 by, among others, Hill and Gendebien, are also expected at the 18th running of the world\u2019s greatest historic motor racing and vintage culture festival.<\/p>\n<p>For further information, visit <a title=\"Goodwood Revival\" href=\"http:\/\/www.goodwood.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Goodwood.com<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>[Source: Goodwood; photo: Tim Scott \/ Fluid Images]<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A special race exclusively for drum-braked Ferrari racing sports cars of the 1950s will be staged at the Goodwood Revival 2015, scheduled for September 11-13 at the Goodwood Motor Circuit in England.
