The mid-week testing session saw a nice selection of historic racing cars challenge the 11-turn, 2.238-mile road course in Salinas, California.<\/p>\n<p>Vintage racing for most is a great way to reconnect with our youth, a time machine of sorts where we can see and hear the great cars once again. But the 2015 LSR Invitational at Mazda Raceway Laguna hosted by HMSA was more than that. This low-key event brought us back to the early days of vintage racing, with tons of track time, truly great cars (when was the last time you saw a Ferrari 250 Testa Rossa at your club event) and wonderful people.<\/p>\n<p>Big events are great with all the excitement of the spectators and hoopla. But being in the big show is not what most of us got into the sport to experience. We just wanted to experience what these old cars are like at speed. The HMSA LSR Invitational 2015 had all the elements of the August Reunion but without the crush of people and limited track time.<\/p>\n<p>The June 2015 running of the HMSA LSR Invitational at Laguna Seca featured many notable entrants, including Jonathan Feiber\u2019s 1960 Maserati Tipo 61 Birdcage; Tom Price\u2019s 1958 Ferrari 250 Testa Rossa; John Fudge\u2019s 1966 Bizzarrini 5300GT; Jonathan Ornstein\u2019s 1971 Webster F5000 \u2018Pipe Organ\u2019; Gregory Campbell\u2019s 1955 Devin Porsche 356; Rick Knoop\u2019s 1972 McLaren M8F; Ned Spieker\u2019s 1957 Maserati 200SI; Henry Schmitt\u2019s 1974 BMW 3.5 CSL and the Park family&#8217;s Shelby Cobras.<\/p>\n<p>&#8212;<\/p>\n<p>Similar to the <a title=\"2010 HMSA LSR Invitational\" href=\"https:\/\/sportscardigest.com\/lsr-invitational-by-hmsa-report-and-photo-gallery\/\">2010<\/a>, <a title=\"2011 HMSA LSR Invitational\" href=\"https:\/\/sportscardigest.com\/lsr-invitational-hmsa-2011-photo-gallery\/\">2011<\/a>, <a title=\"2012 HMSA LSR Invitational\" href=\"https:\/\/sportscardigest.com\/hmsa-lsr-invitational-2012-report-and-photos\/\">2012<\/a>, <a title=\"2013 HMSA LSR Invitational\" href=\"https:\/\/sportscardigest.com\/hmsa-lsr-invitational-2013-report-and-photos\/\">2013<\/a> and <a title=\"HMSA LSR Invitational\" href=\"https:\/\/sportscardigest.com\/hmsa-lsr-invitational-april-2014-report-photos\/\">April 2014<\/a> events, Senior Photographer Dennis Gray also documented the June 2015 running of the HMSA LSR Invitational, offering the following images that highlight the quality participants.
