The Zandvoort Grand Prix 2015 was held 28-30 August at the seaside Circuit Park Zandvoort in the Netherlands. This year\u2019s Zandvoort GP featured the FIA Masters Historic Sports Car Championship, a series for Le Mans-style sports cars and Group 4 period cars from 1962 up to 1974. FIA Masters Historic Sports Cars make for a superb sight, with the big-bangers battling with the smaller-engined sports prototypes and GT cars.<\/p>\n

Similar to the Pre-1966 GT<\/a> race, Dutch historic racer David Hart was also a focal point in the FIA Masters Historic Sports Car Championship race. He was running second to Jon Minshaw’s similar Lola-Chevrolet T70 Mk3B when he challenged for the lead at quarter distance. Contact ensued, leaving Hart’s Lola with damage and missing its right-hand door. While the Dutchman was forced to retire, Minshaw continued and handed his car to Phil Keen for a dominant win.<\/p>\n

Not having set a time in practice, Leo Voyazides and Simon Hadfield put in a storming drive through the entire field to take second place in their Lola T70 Mk3B while Michael Gans and Andy Wolfe rounded out the top-three in their Lola T290. Mark Bates’ Porsche 911 Carrera RSR and the Cooper Monaco King Cobra of Keith Ahlers and Billy Bellinger took class honours. The race was red-flagged right at the end after Michael Lyons had to abandon his Abarth Osella PA1 on the track, beached after having lost a rear wheel.<\/p>\n
