{"id":371146,"date":"2016-08-02T09:00:40","date_gmt":"2016-08-02T13:00:40","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/sportscardigest.com\/?p=97471"},"modified":"2024-01-09T06:29:53","modified_gmt":"2024-01-09T06:29:53","slug":"pre-1963-race-2016-goodwood-revival","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.supercars.net\/blog\/pre-1963-race-2016-goodwood-revival\/","title":{"rendered":"Goodwood Revival (2016) &#8211; New Pre-1963 GT Race"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A highlight of the 2016 Goodwood Revival will be the new Kinrara Trophy, a 60-minute, two-driver race into the dusk on the Friday evening, for GT cars of a type built before 1963.<\/p>\n<p>In what Goodwood calls &#8220;the most glamourous addition to the Revival&#8217;s entry list&#8221; since the event began in 1998, the field will include an array of Ferrari 250 GT SWBs and GTOs, Aston Martin DB4 GTs and Zagatos, and steel-bodied Jaguar E-types. Evoking memories of the Tourist Trophy races won by Stirling Moss and Innes Ireland in 1960-62, it will be a complement to the jewel in the Revival\u2019s crown &#8212; the Royal Automobile Club TT Celebration, for slightly later GTs, which continues in its traditional Sunday afternoon slot.<\/p>\n<p>Spectators will be able to watch the hotly-contested race whilst enjoying the sunset and soaking up the unique atmosphere of the world\u2019s largest historic motor racing and vintage culture event.<\/p>\n<p>Also celebrated at the 2016 Revival will be the life and career of Sir Jack Brabham on the anniversary of his final world championship win, and the 50th anniversary of Formula 1\u2019s \u2018Return to Power\u2019, while away from the track the 50th anniversary of England\u2019s World Cup Win and 70 years of the bikini will be brought to life in ways only Goodwood can.<\/p>\n<p>The hugely-popular Settrington Cup race for children will return, featuring pedal-powered Austin J40s, and there will be a Goodwood Veterans Tribute, celebrating the life of the circuit and the people who made it great.<\/p>\n<p>Emanuele Pirro, five-time Le Mans winner said, &#8220;In the Le Mans film, Steve McQueen said \u2018racing is life, everything else is just waiting\u2019. I say \u2018Goodwood is life and everything else is just waiting\u2019.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The 2016 Goodwood Revival will be held 9-11 September at the Goodwood Motor Circuit.
