Ex-Rod Stewart 1971 Lamborghini Miura P400S sold for \u00a3909,000<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

A 1971 Lamborghini Miura first owned by rock legend Sir Rod Stewart was sold at auction for \u00a3909,000 by Coys at their first Classic & Sports Car Show sale at London’s Alexandra Palace.<\/p>\n

The Miura took centre stage on Saturday 29th October 2016 and became the most valuable car to sell at the auction. This P400S model had been the subject of a \u00a3100,000 restoration and upgrade to SV specification.<\/p>\n

A 1972 Maserati Ghibli 4.9 SS, once owned by U2 drummer Adam Clayton, set a new world-record for a Ghibli sold at auction when it went for \u00a3303,000. This car was one of only eight right-hand drive examples.<\/p>\n

Another headline lot sold was the first registered Range Rover, which went for \u00a393,000. This 1970 Range Rover was the 26th model manufactured, it is believed to be the first car that Land Rover registered to themselves on 27th May 1970 and was one of the first of the batch of 20 press launch cars.<\/p>\n

Other lots sold included an original right hand drive 1974 Ferrari Dino 246 GT E Series, with coachwork by Scaglietti and design by Pininfarina, which went for \u00a3374,000 and a 1977 Ferrari 512 BB that featured at the 1977 London Motor Show, which went for \u00a3225,000.<\/p>\n

Chris Routledge, CEO of Coys, said: \u201cThe auction was exceptional and clearly shows that the historic motor car market is strong and alive with a world-record price for a Maserati Ghibli, a fabulous result for a 246 Dino and a very encouraging price achieved for the Rod Stewart Miura.\u201d<\/p>\n
