Whether you’re in the McLaren or Ferrari camp, enthusiasts alike will never pass up an opportunity to put their favorite car head to head with a rival for bragging rights and “I told you so” credits.<\/p>\n
The DragTimes Youtube channel<\/a> took the F8 Tributo<\/a> and 720s<\/a> to the strip to see who is awarded with an annual “my car is faster than yours” award.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n Drag races are never a good gauge of who has the better car, as with a $330,000+ performance machine<\/strong> there are so many nuances and other abilities to take into account. Traditional racetrack lap times can be difficult when different drivers take different lines and some individuals are simply faster than others no matter what car they’re sitting in.<\/p>\n After setting down a few hot laps to get the cars warmed up we get to see the monsters go head to head on the strip for three separate quarter-mile races.<\/p>\n In the first race, the Ferrari gets a much better start as the driver notes later on in the video he believes the F8 Tributo has a far superior traction control system to minimize wheelspin off the line.<\/strong><\/p>\n Race 1:<\/p>\n Ferrari F8 Tributo – 10.445 at 136.32 MPH<\/strong><\/p>\n McLaren 720S – 10.363 at 139 MPH<\/strong><\/p>\n You can gather from these numbers that although the Ferrari didn’t reach as high of a speed, it had a much better start allowing for a quicker overall 1\/4 mile time.<\/strong> I’m not going to spoil the final result – that being the primary objective of the video to begin with –\u00a0 but this is the reason why you do more than one race to get a true feel for what car is actually faster.<\/p>\n Let us know which one you’d buy and why!<\/p>\n
