After becoming Formula 2 world champion in 2018, the world had high hopes for this Mercedes Driver Development Program wonder-boy before he was shoved into the slowest car on the Formula 1 grid; Williams Racing.<\/p>\n<p>Albeit, the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.williamsf1.com\/\">Williams Racing<\/a> team still developed a Formula 1 car capable of reaching speeds as high as 378 km\/h, it&#8217;s just <em>not quite\u00a0<\/em>as competitive as its rivals. Nonetheless, it&#8217;s still a shame to see poor Geroge Russel stuck at the back of the grid every race but he maintains the heart of a true world champion and keeps a great attitude about it; making him one of my favorite drivers of all time.<\/p>\n<p>Last weekend we had the Nurburgring F1 Grand Prix, and <strong>George Russell and friends got to take the 4.0L twin-turbo V8 powered Mercedes <a href=\"https:\/\/www.supercars.net\/blog\/watch-the-upcoming-2020-mercedes-amg-gt-r-black-series-at-the-nurburgring\/\">AMG-GT R<\/a> for a spin around &#8211; what is in my opinoin &#8211; the most fun track to race on earth.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Although George doesn&#8217;t race for the Mercedes factory team, he still manages to be included in all the AMG-powered fun during the racing calendar due to his connection to the Mercedes team through their Driver Development Program. Not only that, Williams Racing also has a partnership with the AMG-Petronas F1 team as Mercedes provides F1 engines to Williams.<\/p>\n<p>With this <a href=\"https:\/\/www.supercars.net\/blog\/watch-the-upcoming-2020-mercedes-amg-gt-r-black-series-at-the-nurburgring\/\">GT R<\/a> being outfitted with stock street tires on a gloomy day at the Norschifer, George manages to have quite a few terrifying moments on this extremely dangerous race track. It doesn&#8217;t help that this monster of a car <strong>sends 577 horsepower to the rear wheels and George decides to run the speedometer up to 300 km\/h on the wet straight after sunset.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Racecar drivers will be racecar drivers I guess. Personally, this is one of my favourite cars of all time, so I hope you got as much enjoyment out of the video as I did.
