A Lightweight Track Monster Paying Tribute to the Type 35<\/h2>\n

Bugatti is known for its very fast and very impressive supercars and hypercars. The Bugatti Bolide<\/a> is no exception and the company just revealed the new car. The beast of a car features the company’s quad-turbo W16 engine<\/strong>. It is a concept for a modern Bugatti lightweight track car.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

Yes the engine and all-wheel-drivetrain are from the Chiron<\/a>, but it’s up-tuned and the chassis for this new car has been lightened considerably. The engine in this vehicle is good for 1,825 hp and the vehicle has a 2,733-pound dry weight.<\/strong> The top speed is said to be well above 300 mph.<\/p>\n

The Bolide will lap Le Mans in 3:07 and lap the Nuburgring in 5:23. That’s faster than an LMP1 car and it is Porsche 919 Evo challenging.<\/p>\n

“We asked ourselves how we could realize the mighty W-16 engine as a technical symbol of the brand in its purest form<\/strong>\u2014with solely four wheels, engine, gearbox, steering wheel and, as the only luxury, two seats,” Bugatti boss Stephan Winkelmann said in a statement. “Important aspects of our considerations were fine-tuning our iconic powertrain without any limitations as regards the weight-to-power ratio”<\/p>\n

The Bolide has some of the most innovative materials on any vehicle in the world. Case-in-point is the roof scoop. It is made of a material that changes form as speed rises.<\/strong> It bubbles when the car gets to a certain speed to reduce drag and optimize airflow to that big wing at the back of the car.<\/p>\n

Bugatti used the classic Type 35 racing car as inspiration for this car. The Bolide is no taller than the classic car and it is a signal to the world that Bugatti is going to start focusing more on building lightweight hyper-fast automobiles.
