Shutting Up the Naysayers<\/h2>\n

Recently we reported on the fact that the SSC Tuatara hit 331 mph on a top speed run and a two-way run of 316.1. However, evidence has come out that makes some people speculate as to whether or not the company actually did it.<\/p>\n

The video that was shared by the company appears to be edited.\u00a0According to SSC<\/a>, the video was altered, but the car still did the times that were recorded.<\/strong> Statements were put out by the SSC CEO and the GPS data-measurement manufacturer Dewetron, which recorded the SSC run claiming the validity of the numbers.<\/p>\n

Now, however, according to EVO<\/a>, SSC has decided that it will just repeat the top speed performance in an effort to remove the stain from SSC’s first record-setting run.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

SSC CEO Jerod Shelby said the following:<\/p>\n

“No matter what we do in the coming days to salvage this particular record, it’s always going to have a stain on it,\u2019 adding \u2018…we have to re-run the record. We have to do this again and do it in a way that it’s undeniable and irrefutable.”<\/p>\n

This time around, SSC will use multiple GPS systems from different companies to ensure that the data is correct and can be scrutinized.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

The car attempting the record will be production-spec and wearing road-legal Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tires and run an E85 blend of fuel. It will be interesting to see the results this time around.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
